2 Different Things, I Need Help

suboxin might be the key. i checked out some of mitzys sights which were helpful. no to sound like an idiot , but a few questions.
1) how do u handel the initial call, is it blunt or is subtlety needed
2)is it a matter of 1 dr visit, giving him $100 or whatever & walking out with a script
3) how much does it cost for a script, i probably need only the equivilant of 40 mg of methadone.
4) does this stuff block like methadone.
5) how long does the process take cause i think i need help now.
Dog, Ill tell you my experience, maybe that will help answer your questions. I called the doc on Mon, he called me late mon afternoon, told me not to use anymore and come in at 1 on tues. On tues he gave me a examination asked a few questions and gave me 4mg and a script. I went to the pharmacy got the script and came back to the docs office about 45 min later feeling OK from the initial sub dose. he gave me instructions on what to do the rest of the day and had me come back the next morn. He then gave me instructions for the next week and enough sub for a week. I then got enough for a couple of weeks but weaned down and when he called me after I stopped for 3 days I told him I was done and I dropped the rest of what I had left for someone who didnt have ins.

Total cost was $90 for 1st visit, $45 for each subsequent vist. The sub was $30 with a co-pay but if I had to pay it was $287 for enough for 16mg a day for 30 days.

It would be different in your case because your staying on it and probably would only have to see him once a month after the intial stabilization phase.

And yes, I was blunt and told him everything on the phone, he sees this everyday just tell him everything or her.

I miss anything?

Thanx, John

I gotta do something to get a gri. its just time for me to face reality. maybe i'll be able to change, but im leavin that one to the future. ur dr wasnt in florida by any chance?
No, Im in Mass., did you see Misty's physician locator? You can try calling addictionologist, that are'nt on the locator.

Good luck you seem really down today Dog, please try and do something, I dont like to see anyone suffer when you dont have to.

Good luck
Johndee
Browndog,
I hope that you can get a doctor near you. Wanted to let you know that one of the links compared meth and sub....if you read far enough down. It will give you cost comparisions.....Sub is expensive, but well worth the money when you start adding up how much it costs to use. The best part is that suboxone has the opiate blocker in it, kind of keeps you in check so to speak.
I hope that you can find a doctor close to you......you might want to do some reading on the herion board also, I found some good info there of peoples experience on sub....
Good Luck to you,
Tina
Tina - It must be a real fight over at your house for the computer!!!!!
LOL Eddie, I just kicked him off. He always hated it now he is getting into it.
I jump on my sons when I can't get on mine........
BD Dont get on methadone, I have been on it for 10 years and now 10 days clean. I cant describe the pain i am going thru but I will make it with the grace of GOD!!!!! Dont do IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Big Bear
Big Bear,
10 days clean, wow. That is great. I took methadone for 2 1/2 years and only 10 mg a day. I know the pain you are talking about. It is extremly painful. A withdrawl to never be forgotten. I think BD is on it now and needing sub to get off. If i am right. Anyway best of luck to you.. Rae(Rachel)
BD,
You got the right idea. Suboxone. If I would have known about it when I was on methadone back in 2002 I would have done anything to get my hands on it. The withdrawl is unbelievable. Don't want that kind of pain unless that is the only way and you can't find the sub. Best of luck to you.. Rae
suboxone has naltrexone in it, right? And it helps with pain issues, right? Does it make you feel anything?
I am having major pain lately..
I am also wondering if this might help.
John, you were on it for how long?
And did you have any withdrawl symptoms?
Thanks.
Kerry
Kerry, it does help with pain, although once I weaned down it didnt, not sure where I was at when it stopped working for the pain. I was only on 10 days and did a quick taper. There are some withdrawals, but minor compared to the withdrawals I went through on the percs. I guess the longer your on the sub, the longer you have to wean. Some people have trouble with the sub withdrawals but I truely think because there far removed from the withdrawal from the doc and have become comfortable on the sub.
The perc withdrawals were fresh in my mind when I quit so in comparison didnt seem so bad.

Hi, Tina

Could you give me the information on the subutex/suboxone also? Thanks! It's very hard to find a doctor in this area that can prescribe it!

Love,
Susan

good nite friend......sleep tight , dont let the bed bugs bite.......
Hi, Brown Dog,

I don't know if you have followed what is going on with my son much or not. My son started with vicodin, then oxycontin, then heroin. He detoxed in prison when we decided not to post bail on the judge's recommendation so that he would detox and be safe. He was 16 days clean when he came out - he got himself out the day of the preliminary hearing without secure bail by agreeing to pretrial services (something like probation). He is now 36 days clean!

The system has been very slow at getting his formal rehab started, which I think is crazy. He is having a lot of problems with depression, but he had some problems (before drugs) with this too. I started researching some things on line about natural/herbal treatments to help. I have him taking a multi-vitamin with ginseng, calcium/magnesium supplement with zinc (to aid in nerve, muscle and metabolic functions and antioxidant) , passion flower (for depression/anxiety), echinacea (for immune system - his request), and DL-Phenylalanine (to help eliminate cravings). I think the two most important ones for him with his heroin withdrawal are the calcium/magnesium and the DL-Phenylalanine. He just started the passion flower yesterday and seems better today about the depression (could just be a coincidence - too early to tell). He said that he has no cravings. We're counting our blessings on that so far! He just desperately needed some relief from the depression! Maybe the passion flower drops will continue to help. Here's the website where I found out about what amino acid deficiencies cause what addictions. It's interesting. http://www.counselormagazine.com/di...ne_Theraphy.asp

I hope this information is of some help to you. I figured God gave us these herbs to help us stay or get healthy. It was worth a try! I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers!!!! God bless!

Love,
Susan
Hi Susan, thanks for the info on your son, i just wabted to say GOOD NITE to ya!!!!
Thanks John...I swear, my back has been so horrible..I have been justifiying in my head the pills..but don't want to go back there..and it isn't because i want to use..but because I can hardly take the pain. I need to find a dr to help. But I am in a third world country when it comes to adequate medical care..that is well know here.
See, Cowgirl and Mitzy, that is a perfect example of helping. To me, that is how it works. Cowgirl did it with love..and Mitzy, you are growing..
Isn't that how it is supposed to work? We all need to be corrected from time to time...and our defects brought to light...but doing it in the right way is so much more well recieved...not that I am an expert...ha ha..but I saw that happen here today..and think that is so much more effective that "TELLING IT HOW IT IS.."
My ears seem to shut when I hear that approach.
I am guilty of that same thing, myself..and know it just doesn't work..
Kerry
Nite Jazzy! :)
I don't know why this happens, but what I put in for a website, somehow changes when I copy, paste, and send. I will try again. Hope this works!!!
