HELLO ALL!
I hope everyone is doing well today. I just thought I would drop a quick note and say hello!
Its sunny today but sooo cold with that DAMN WIND! Its only -3c or 34f for you americans BUT with the WIND CHILL its like -23c OR -12f.
Yes its true I made it over 13 months clean. My first day was October 13/2004 and 13 months was November 13th/2005.
How is everyone doing??? POOPIE are you clean again yet or are you still using drugs? Let me know ok???

Hello fellow Calgarian, congrats on the huge amount of recovery time ! I have been clean for 65 days. That particular book brought plenty of emotions to the surface for me. I passed the book on my teenagers....it is valuable and has initiated alot of important conversations around here...

Congratulations on 397 days!!! I was wondering what are you doing to stay clean? Do you go to meetings? Do you see a therapist? Tell us how you managed to get and stay clean for this long..You should share more of your story people can learn from you. Are you still depressed and unhappy.. What's going on with Kiwi? Are you exercising and dating again? Please write back I would love to hear more of about how your really doing these days... Rae

Kiwi, Congratulations. I have never posted to you, but you crack me up sometimes with your sarcasm. You have some great insights as well and never beat around the bush! I have 106 days clean today. It seems like a lifetime and at times like a very short time. I know this is the right path though. Great job. CAS.

Wow, Kiwi, congratulations! 13 months is awesome! I'm so proud of you!
Are you any happier these days? I hope so. My son seems to be improving in that area these days. He took himself off the anti-depressant and saw the doctor today. He said it was okay but if he felt he was slipping at all, to call him and he'd get them started again for him. He was on zoloft. My son said that he's sleeping better now which helps.
I will continue to pray for you to stay strong and to feel joy in your life again. I care!

I am waiting patiently for my friend to finish that book, she still hasnt given it to me and i am dying to read it. I assume you are reading it.

Rae: Staying clean. Well I don't go to meetings. All I have is this board. I do watch Intervention, I do watch Dr. Phil when he has drug addicts on.
BUT the thing that keeps me CLEAN NOW! Is all I have to do is sit and THINK about the things I did when I was on Oxycontin. The monster I was, all the lying, all the stealing, all the blowing of money, selling my possessions, thinking about pills 24/7.. I lost the simple things in life.. Like the smell of rain or the breeze blowing across your face..
I wanted MY life back!

I think Marcus was referring to several posts you made (as Shmigelz) about being on methadone in the past, like this one from October 2004. It's no big deal either way -- it's totally your business how you choose to present yourself in this Board -- but your experience with methadone might be of help to others like Marcus. Here's what you wrote:

Anyways. I've been on Methadone for 30 days now. I don't think about Oxy's, I don't crave them, I don't have any withdrawls, nothing at all. Im working alot, working out alot, spend time with family, friends, and my girlfriend. So things are well.
As for advice, keep at eye on your dosage and how you feel. I'm sticking at 110mg for now. It all depends on how fast your body metabolised the stuff. Make sure you feel 'normal' but your not overly tired (If you head is bopping in front of the PC) its too much."

My son attended his 90 meetings in 90 days, but never got a sponsor and never finished working the steps. I THINK (I'm no expert) it might have helped him to work the steps, because I think he'd actually feel better if he apologized to us for putting us through what he did. Not that he has to, because we realize the drugs had a hold on him, but I think it would help his self-esteem if he did...that's all. Holding on to all that guilt can't be fun. We just feel blessed, as I'm sure your parents do, to have our son back! That horrible drug makes good people do some really horrible things! I'm so glad your free of it and I will pray that you stay free of it forever so that you can find the happiness you deserve.

Congrats Kiwi! Thats a very long time to be clean..I applaud you! I just got the book A million Litle Pieces..Just started reading it. Did you finish it? Let me know what you think when you are done and I will do the same. I am sure there are many things we can both relate to in there.
The one thing I didnt understand is why he had to have 2 root canals with no novocaine. Would a shot of novocaine really make him want to use again? Its not like the novocaine or any other meds were in his bloodstream. I think he tortured himself for nothing. Anyway..let me know what you think..and Congrats from NY! Laurie
