8th Day And Running

well here i am on my 8th day of c/t w/d's and am actually going out of my mind. (as if i really had a mind) am doing pretty good except the loss of sleep is tremendous. can anyone tell me if that goes away and when. does it effect anyone elses eyesight? seems that everything is a blurr. i just pray to get normal again if at all possible. on another note i did call my dr. this mornibg and had him to put in my files not to give me anymore narcotics so i broke that thread. told him everything that was a huge step for me it was almost time to get a refill. i feel i am doing o.k. now if i could only get some sleep
thanks to all of you

CONGRATUATIONS!!!!!!!!
I know people that get clean for months and dont get the courage to do that.. that is great.... really great... it does take alot ...and there will be days that you might regret that decision but all in all I assure you it was the right one....
as for your blurred vision it should clear ... your senses got accustom to your vision in the abnormal sense and accomidated so it will take some time to re accomidate to this as well... but.. if you have dizziness or headaches along with it or it doesnt clear in the next week. I would strongly suggest seeing a doc..
Good luck and God Bless
Teresa

congradulations on 8 days(?) i'm sure you must be starting to feel better. as for sleeping its hard, but there are over the counter meds that can help. try tylenol pm, herbal tea (chamomile tea ) seems to work great. a hot bath with lavender.
here is a list of herbs to help with insomnia, they are called hypnotic herbs. opium is a hypnotic herb.

Hypnotics are good if you are having problems sleeping. Hypnotics have a wide range of action from softly relaxing muscles to basically "knocking you out". Some of the most effective hypnotics such as opium are illegal. Safe hypnotic herbs would include:

Anenome pulsatilla - Pasque Flower
Artemisia vulgaris - Mugwort
Betonica officinalis - Wood betony
Eschscholzia californica - Californian Poppy
Humulus lupulus - Hops
Lactuca virosa - Wild Lettuce
Leonurus cardiaca - Motherwort
Matricaria recutita - Chamomile
Passiflora incarnata - Passion Flower
Piscidia erythrina - Jamaican Dogwood
Scutellaria laterifolia - Scullcap
Tilia spp. - Linden
Valeriana officinalis - Valerian
Verbena officinalis - Vervain

here are a few herbs that are good for eyesight too:
bilberry (vaccinium myrtillus) consumed by British air force pilots in World War II
Ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba)
passionflower- helps with frequent eyestrain also for treating insomnia and nervousness

hope this helps and hope you get some sleep. best of luck

we will both have to just keep on fighting and take some of raeraes advice but I am not to sure about the lavendar bath thing lol my wife said i would smell nice though. you and your wife take care and hang strong
Sleep discomfort has always been the worst se for me. I've gotten past the 3-5 days of flu-like symptoms only to continue to deal with restless to non-existent sleep. For me it has lasted 2-3 weeks, but I think that's generally on the high end. While nobody dies from lack of sleep, it drain us emotionally and physically and clouds our ability to feel good about recovery.

A couple of things I did differently this time around that made it more bearable: I pretty much accepted that for several days I wasn't going to sleep much, so I wasn't fighting it, and the other thing I did was try and get out for a brisk walk around 9-10 PM. This seemed to help.

I empathize with what you're experiencing. Hang in there, it does get better!

One word - Ambien

Most people on here are against it, but to me it made ALL the difference. I didn't sleep longer than 3 hrs a night for 3 weeks, which made me tired, depressed, lethargic, listless.... I couldn't concentrate on work, school, my son.. If I didn't get sleep, I would end up losing everything, which was what I was trying to avoid by getting off pain pills.

So I had my doctor put me back on Ambien and once my sleep returned, the road to recovery was faster and less agonizing
way to go on the days... whhhoooo hhhhoooo!
Did anyone else's eyes get sunken in..mine didn't seem to get better for over 3 weeks...and does anyone know what causes it??
