Dear Roger,
I was reading your postand wanted to tell you that you've had a hell of a life!! I know it took alot of courage to get away from NJ. It sound's like you know the pill's have ruined your life!! I saw where you said you were on methadone and you have been taken off, I'm not understanding why this Doc is putting you on Perc's, I think that what you said, that seem's like that's taking you right back where you started!!! Have you ever heard of the new medicine called SUBOXONE? This is a med that will help you detox off of any opiate. I think you should check it out it sure is worth a try!! I also was hooked on pain pill's for about 8 to 10 year's and it was HELL!!! The constant game of trying to get them. I also doc shopped and ER shopped. It all became so demeaning and made me feel so worthless!!! I couldn't function without the pill's. In June of 2003 I joined the methadone clinic, It has changed my life alot, even though I battle alot with the fact of feeling like I'm not clean!! But let's face it it's better than those demon pill's!!! I'm now slowly detoxing off of the meth. I go to AA faithfully!! I don't know whether you have a support group but it sure help's alot. We addict's have to get down to why we use!!! I really do wish you all the luck with your addiction. if you ever need someone to talk to I'm here!

Roger--- I don't know you and I am proud, so I am sure your father is, you have come a long way and you will beat this rotte disease. You sound like you have a good heart, but we all have done bad things in our lives. Don't beat yourself up over it. I was reading one of the other responses and someone mentioned SUBOXONE, or as I call it the "Miracle Drug". I have been on it for 7 months---Sober! Meetings, sponser and I work the program all that good stuff! I am a recovering addict from Oxycontin and Heroin. I was active for about 3 1/2 years and I have been detoxed off of methadone and suboxone and I am telling you I was up and out of bed the first day at detox when I took the suboxone. But with the methadone, I came out of detox and used. Methadone hurts to come off of and it is a big committment when in a clinic, but everyone is different. My boyfriend of 3 years is on the methadone clinic and loves it. I don't understand why your Dr. would want to give you other pain meds? It is hard to get the Suboxone because only 1 Dr. can prescribe it to 30 patients for Drug Abuse, but they can prescribe it for like back pain or injurys to anyone amount of patients. That is what I was told by my Dr. Look into it it is a good alternative and it is a prescription too that you just fill at the pharmacy. Keep Ya Head Up and if you need anything just remember I am always here!----JR
Hi Roger,
I'm so sorry to hear of your dad's passing from this life. My dad passed away, and I miss him terribly but I also can sense his presence with me when I need him too. You can ask your dad to help you...ask him to intercede for you...to ask God to make you strong to get drug free some day.
My 29 year old son just started suboxone. He was a heroin addict. He started with vics, then oxy, then heroin. He had detoxed in prison for retail theft to support his habit, but the cravings were pretty bad. He said that once he took the suboxone, he doesn't even think about the heroin; without it, he does. That's pretty much a miracle drug in my opinion. The doctors wants him on this for 2 months, then he wants him to try some other drug. I will let you know what that is later. Please check for a doctor in your area that can prescribe suboxone. Mistyeyes (Tina) on this forum has info on it. She has been very helpful to a LOT of people on here with providing that info. There is still some withdrawal from it, but it's not nearly as bad as methadone.
You sound like a very kind and caring person. I wish you all the best at getting free from the drugs. If there's anything I can do, please let me know, but be assured I will pray for you. I care!

Roger,
I am very sorry to hear about your father. My Dad has also passed Sept,7, 2003. It is difficult. Wow!!! Sounds like you have had a very busy life... You lucky your still not in jail. Well I was reading in another post of yours to "stacyn" where you told her to try methadone and how it is great and how it gives you energy bla bla bla and I responded to you. To be honest I was thinking when I read your post this man is either on Methadone him self or has never been on it and never had to withdrawl from it.. Now I read your post and just as I thought you are currently taking it. I feel for you. I really do. It is a very difficult drug to detox from. So you have a long road ahead of you and you will soon see why I wouldn't suggest it to anyone... Unless they are dieing. You are lucky to have a doctor to help. However, switching addictions sounds crazy to me. That is just my opinion. I feel in your case and if I had it to do over I would have done anything to get my hands on suboxone. I was addcited to methadone for 2 1/2 years back in 2002. The iwthdrawl is very painful, unbearable too much for words to describe. I was totally clean from it for 9 months and weaned down to 2.5 mgs before stopping. So it can be done especially with clonodine from a doctor.
Just wanted to wish you the best of luck and suggest talking to your doctor about sub or just weaning you off the methadone until you can successfully quit altogether. You are going to end up in the same situation at this point with narcotics. That is unless you plan on being on them for the rest of your life. Anyway Have a great day... Rae
