I just wanted to let you all know that I found a new apartment in the exact location I had hoped for and only 5 blocks from my sister! I am so excited to start a new chapter in my life. As my favorite quote says, "future dreams could never last when you find yourself still living in the past". I am so relieved to be away from the home-situation with the ex. God, I feel so blessed. Everything has just fallen into place. I was very discouraged for a bit there. All the places were in a bad part of town and I was driving home on Wednesday night and I just said aloud, "guide me to where I need to go". I ended up turning a right instead of my typical left and drove a few blocks, saw the for rent sign, and called. I found out today that I got approved, signed the lease, and will be getting the key tomorrow. Now I just need extra prayers that my friend who has the truck doesn't flake out on Sunday. :)
congratulations on your new place....
nothing changes if nothing changes and you're making good changes !

Congrats on your new place Zipper. you deserve it girlfriend. I am glad for you. God will lead us in the right direction if we are willing to let him. I hope you will be happy in your new place and that this will be the beginning of a new and happy life for you. ((((())))
Hi Zipper,
Well done and I hope you are very happy in your new place. You have guts and I really admire you. x

Okay...in case anyone needs to know the obvious: never go rock climbing and then move on the same day. ;) My body is SORE!!! However, the move went smoothly, didn't run into the ex at all except for Friday afternoon and I just kept on walking! When I was pulling out of the driveway for the last time the ex had pulled up. Talk about perfect timing! I am loving my new place but it was dirty as a pigsty. The landlord took off $50 towards next month rent since they weren't able to hire cleaners. So my weekend was busy cleaning and moving. I feel so blessed and so excited about this new chapter in my life. I know with certainty that God is helping me: gave me strength to finally disengage completely from the ex, helped me find a place, and kept me safe during the actual moving. If I just remember to not force things, let go, and trust in my HP (and stay sober), life sure runs more smoothly and things just fall into place. How cool is that?
Zip you sound positive and congrats on your new place. Hope it all works out for you. Looks good on ya. God bless and take care
Hello to everyone. I've had a crazy busy week at work and my evenings have been spent cleaning/unpacking/rearranging but I wanted to check in and say hello. Tomorrow I am off to LA to go to a cousins wedding and I get to see cousins/grandpa/aunts/uncles that I haven't seen in a very long time. I am really looking forward to it.
Anyway, just wanted to check in. Hope this finds you well.
BTW, I am loving my new place! Even the cats seem happier. :)

Hiya Zip,
You sound like you are in a much better place. Both physically and mentally. Sometimes a scenery change is imperative. Good for you for getting new digs away from the negativity!
TTYL :-) xo

yeah Zipper where are you?
Hey guys...sorry I've been M.I.A. for a bit. Last Wednesday I had my quarterly review at work and after being told that I would not be promoted, my boss told me that she hasn't liked me since I started. Actually, she didn't tell me this. She yelled it. And then proceeded to continue escalating after she opened the door so my co-workers heard the interaction. I remained calm, actually got tears in my eyes because I have never once heard someone show such disrespect and have such disregard to my feelings without considering how much I did for the research department, and left for the day. After some thought, prayers, speaking with my dad (he is an attorney), and more prayer, I went in on Thursday and resigned due to a hostile work enviornment. My boss signed a letter of termination in order for me to collect unemployment while I am looking for a new job, and I got two weeks severance.
I do not regret the action I took...I am choosing to look at this situation and the earlier situation with my ex-bf as God's way of really weeding out all the negativity. The situations where I've been disrespected or mistreated are out of my life. It has been rough and I must admit that all the work hostility began months ago when I stood up for what I believe in (honesty/integrity) and told my boss about my co-worker lying on her timecard. That was so out of character for me. Typically, I would have sat back and not said anything. I made the choice to stand up for what I believe in and ultimately, it created a hostile work environment. Do I regret it? Not at all, just like I don't regret leaving my ex and not contacting him again. I guess it is either the stubborn German side of me that makes a decision and doesn't waiver or it is my higher self that is demanding respect, honesty, integrity. Whichever it is, I am firm in my resolve in both situations. I've sent out about 70 resumes in less than a week, will hopefully get unemployment within a couple weeks, have a bit of saved money from my nana whom just passed, and NOT drinking. About 3 weeks ago an old aquaitance from AA contacted me on myspace and we've been pretty much inseparable since. :) Cool stuff b/c I have been praying for a woman to come into my life with longterm sobriety who could be understanding yet supportive and viola...this woman contacts me after 3 years of her trying to find me!!!! And the coolest part: she has 14 years sober, lives an honest program, and I just love her to death. She has been a huge support this last week.
Anyway....my new place doesn't have internet and I so I am only checking in a couple times a week, as I am using my time at the coffee/internet shop to mainly just find a job.
You are in my thoughts and prayers. In spirit, my friends, Lisa

I'm impressed with your commitment to yourself. It's great reading, good for you!
Zipper,
Her behaviour was appalling and in the UK you might have grounds for what we term "constructive dismissal", but as you've got a lawyer on your team I have to assume your employment legislation is less supportive of employees' human right at work. What a cheek!
Your response was as admirable as her behaviour was deplorable. Good for you and good luck!

Gosh, thank you everyone. Your words are encouraging.
I sure am feeling like I am on a rollercoaster. Every day something/someone new enters. I am exploring all job avenues. I actually submitted an application at Whole Foods yesterday. I am trying to remain open and not resist change and I have to keep reminding myself that I am on a spiritual journey. This will definitely be one of those times that I'll look back and say, "wow". It is almost comical to look back at the last 7 months of sobriety and acknowledge everything that has happened. It sure hasn't been a dull journey, thus far. :)
I am headed to an AA campout/convention on Wednesday so I'll try to check in once or twice more before then.
Thanks again for your kind words...Martin, yes, here in the states I could probably have a legal case but I won't. Too much effort. ;)

When dealing with HPs, it is a good idea to be careful when asking for His/Her/Its help. At least, it has been in MY case. Mine works if anyone needs to borrow it, by the way. Sounds like Zipper's got one as well....
:)
Good on YOU, Zipper. It just gets better!

LOL, Skg. Yes, I definitely admit that I asked for this. :) My HP is just letting me know he/she/it has been listening. ;) Also helps me to say the third step prayer...offering myself...though I still get snagged on requests/requirements. That is when I've gotta remind myself AGAIN that I aint running the show. Suit up, show up....
