I have a question for anyone with advice... I am looking into places for my husband who has a serious sex addiction with slight alcohol addiction and severe depression. Aside from paying 45,000.00 for 35 days and sending him to a solely sexual addiction treatment center I was wondering if he would benefit the same or if at all from a substance abuse treatment center, I have found a place in Florida that is in- patient and will take him- I'm just looking for advice...Is an addiction an addiction regardless of what the addiction is to?? Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
FAITH, an addiction is ANY HABIT the one is ENSLAVED to. In addition, we can also be addicted to our love ones addiction-be very careful! His suffering from depression, sex, and alcohol definitely derive from an onset of pass and/or present PAIN that he has not excepted, refuses to except, or acknowledge.
Secret, Hidden, Pain within us will ALWAY DESTROY US! Be advised that any treatment facility regardless of the location, or cost is ONLY a support haven for addicts-nothing more. No amount of money, sex, or love, can bring sobriety. You can check him into a facility, but only his body will enter, but his MIND will remain outside because deep in his Heart he does not want to get Free-Yet. However, once an individual IDENTIFY THE ADDICTION, EXCEPT THE ADDICTION, then COMMIT TO BEING FREE FROM THE ADDICTION deep within his/her HEART, then the long road to recovery can begin, but not without Relapse. It is INEVITABLE!
In addition, most treatment center/programs teach, and make people feel that relapse is a Failed Act, and that you have LOST those day of serenity. On the contrary, (a disservice to those who struggle with sobriety) Time Spent Clean and Sober from any addiction, can not be reversed, deleted, or altered by Man, only GOD has that power. When people are admitted to these programs and ultimately relapse they will cover up the fact, and as a result Suffer In Silence, thus remaining in a very sick and self-destructive state of mind.
Here is how you and your husband can begin on the LONG ROAD to RECOVERY: 1) Decide Within your HEART you DO Not want to be a SLAVE to ANY Addictive Behavior. 2) Acknowledge the ONSET of your Pain-pass or present. 3) Make a List (private) and Write down each and every issue that HURT you. 4) Cry Out to GOD on your face and knees for the courage, strength, and grace to forgive you for these iniquities, and to help you Overcome (continue to Repent throughout your lifetime). 5). Faith, I am sorry I hit the wrong button and was not complete in the previous post.
I wanted to add that in conjunction with your regular bible to purchase THE LIFE RECOVERY BIBLE, New Living Translation with both the old and new Testaments published by TYNDALE HOUSE, Wheaton Illinois.
This powerful bible will truly put addictive behaviors in clear prospective, thus giving you the understanding of how you can BEGIN to live a better life especially when you are suffering from the affects of your husband's addictive behaviors.
Please keep in mind that once an individual get a taste of real sobriety it has to become a LIFE STYLE, NOT AN EVENT! Something you attend for show then once the curtain goes down you fall even harder back into the darkness of that addiction. I don't know what religion you and your husband practice, there is only one true GOD, and sobriety without the grace of GOD and his help and guidance is only TEMPORARY, and will ALWAYS result in infinite RELAPSE!
I urge you to take my advise, practice those things I have listed in my previous post in the order given-with or without your husband. Trust me, you too will gain valuable knowledge, strength and prospective from the WORD OF GOD IN THE RECOVERY BIBLE publication I mention.
MAY GOD BLESS YOU, GIVE YOU THE GRACE YOU WILL NEED TO CONTINUE DOWN THIS JOURNEY WITH YOUR HUSBAND.
TO BE FREE IT HAS TO COME FROM DEEP WITHIN HIS HEART NOT YOURS. God deals with each of us on our own merit.
SINCERELY, TUFTS, LOVE

I needed to hear all that. Todays my second day being clean for the one thousand time. I have this little thing inside of me that destroys me and only on certain days am I even a aware of it. It scares the crap out of me. I use loratab or methodone or any thing to escape it. I dont want to use, not at all and I make it a while until this problem takes over. I want to fix it. Ive been married eleven years and four beautiful kids who I thank god for everyday. I dont want to hurt them any more. I went to see a counsler for the first time, who told me I have a co- dependancy problem. I see that and when I look back over my action I begin to see it even more clearly. Its the solution I cant see. If I knew what to do I would do it,but I dont. Please help with advice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
