I know it should not matter at all, but it would be nice to know peoples ages. It does seem that many people are so young, by the way that they write.
I have been a "lurker" on this board since this summer. I have seen so many disputes over such childish things. The focus of this board is recovery, and I just can not believe how out of hands things can get, and it just makes me laugh because it just seems that the ones causing the problems are so young.
The way that people express themselves by writing, the spelling mistakes, and the absolute disrespect of another person is so crazy sometimes! I do gain a lot of knowledge here from the more mature posters, and hope to someday be able to help others by posting myself.
This thread might be out of line, or might even cause some controversy. I hope not. I simply wanted to chime in and see if other people feel the same way. I also wondered if it is something that could be part of the "profile" when one registers. Just my thoughts....
I wish everyone here the best of days. Good luck in recovery, I do envy each and every one of you for your strength in fighting the devils in our lives!

rachel, I am 28 and I have two (a 3rd on the way) beautiful children....5 & 8. I do not get involved in any of the drama on this board. I ignore it and move on. I'm trying my hardest to beat this addiction thing and so many people have helped me and I don't want to ruffle any feathers.
Rachel, I am a very young 48! LOL Have a daughter who will be 23 on Dec. 23 and a son who just turned 9. He was our little surprize and the joy of our life. If we can just hang on and raise we will be very thankful.
I have been posting for 20-something days. Mostly I read, though. Sometimes I am moved to post or reply, but I have gained mountains of inspiration and insight from just reading what others have to say! I love this board and am VERY thankful to have stumpled upon it in my early days of w/d.

i am also 45 birthday is 10/28/59 and i like anything that is a powertool, and if not i will take clothes love levi's and t-shirts let me know and i'll e-mail my address. i think we should be able to read the part of the profiles about hobbies likes, dislikes and thing that doesn't pertain to where we live , phone #'s or e-mail addresses and such know what i mean. we may even already can but i don't know how

I must say a word about contraversy and oh yeah spelling.... lol...( well guilty...on that one)
Often times it may seem that the contraversy is not recovery related and childish when in fact it may be a little childish ( this depends on the perspective of the person looking in ) but as far as being recovery related that is not as easily diserned... recovery is not just about not taking a pill or a substance it is about being honest with your feelings your opinions being comfortable learning to express those feelings and basically living life... free from guilt, shame and getting some level of acceptance..... the chaos that takes place here often given time and the right amount of honesty often yeild rewards though it may not be readily appearent.. I can name about 4 people here that have come to see that being called on there honesty or lact of or on there 'using' or 'self seeking self pity' behavior was a recovery busting.. has actually helped them... they couldnt see it but we could and we said so... they got mad but they then saw it.. and came back and said so... they thanked those of us that were strong enough to call them on it... there is a good mixture of loving and caring people on here and those of us that love and care but show it differently.... it simply works...
