Hey Yall,
I have a question that i really need some advice on. I make 1 week clean today as most of you know my doc was hydro about 8 pills a day for the last 2 years. Now in the beggining i began takeing them cause i really was hurting. I have endometrious (chronic) anyway i must admitt that over the last year it has gotten somewhat better. Now on a "certin time of month" i hurt very badly. Am i strong enough to only take them during those painfull days. If i do willi go through w/d allover again? I tried to clean my house today and had absoulty no motivation to do it although i must say that the last 2 days my kids have been home i feel so much closer to them and less irritated. Will my motivation to want to clean and do house work come back? Just some queations i could use some advice on. Thanks yall!!
Trin
Dear Trin,
Do Not take a Pain Pill...trust me here..You will awaken the Sleeping Giant.
As far as your energy coming back,,I can only tell you from my own personal experience that it took quite a long time for me to feel motivated..I had w/d c/turkey and I am (Im sure) way way older than you.But for me the first 2 weeks were pretty tough..But then again besides my age, I had been using plenty and for quite a long time..
I can tell you this.....Yesterday was 90 days for me. and the Energy I have and have had for the last 2 weeks is amazine..And Im acutally doing spending most of it on the right things and completing them>>>>I know this is hard for you, but from experience and Im sure most here will tell you the same thing, You Cannot Use..You know the Old Saying...One is too many and a thousand is not enough...Your doing good...Just hang in there..Take vitamins and Amino Acids. and if you need to relax..Relax..things will wait for you..But Remember that your Addiction is also waiting and lurking right around the corner..
Good Luck./
Take Motrin or Advil. tylenol Midol...anything but not Pain Pills..
Good Luck
Love and Hugs.

Hiya trin unfortunitly it will lol when it does would you mind popping around to do mine? jackie xxxxxxxx lol
Hey Tryn...in my opinion, I wouldn't take the pills..only because, we are addicts..we think we can control the pills, but they control us. You'll feel better about yourself, if you take the Motrins, and advils..hang in there, my sister has the same problem..and does take tons of Motrin, and it helps. Kim
One week? In my opinion, I would say absolutely not.

Trin, congradulations & great job on that clean time. I have to agree with these guys, it is definitely not a good move to take it, and if we were to tell u different (even though thats what i think you want to hear) we would not be being honest or helping you.
This is truely one of those cases where you need to take it one day at a time and enure. I am sorry for your pain. In some areas woman really do have to endure more then men, and therefore must be stronger.

Thanks Yall,
What i needed was honsty. Now that i read my own message i am like yea right one week what am i thinking. I guess that i was just hurting so badly that i was looking for a reason to justify takeing them. I am going to store and get some motrin. Ive always had a hard time takeing ibprophin cause it triggers my asthma but on the flip side i would much rather wheeze and carry my asthma pump than test my addiction and relapse. Thanks All be in later gotta bring kids to school.

lol
its amazing but the otc meds like motrin ect really do work sometimes, we are just so quick to go for the "good" stuff first.
I think now would be the worst time to try a pain pill it will trigger the mind.
I am almost a week off my percs and still actually feel a bit good today :)
couldn't sleep all night but I can deal with that.
good luck and if you anything like me you are hoping someone tells you one pill won't hurt but if you are an addict it will be a mistake.

Grest job with recovery so far. I also have endometrios(sp) I take midol or pamprin it helps more that the midol.. However, they used to give me lortab for it too. This is the first cycle I have had since quitting (8 days) and it was a b****!!!! I got the midol and those therpatches heat patches let me tell you they work wonders today is day two and I am feeling much better. Don't take that pill you will only find yourself making excuses to take "just one" for things like a headache, flu, etc Keep up what your doing and try the alternatives others are offering
Good Luck

Trin,
This is my opinion on the situation. If you had a 2 year habit, taking 8 pills a day the answer is NO.... You cannot ever take them again. If you were a non-addict then yes you could take 1 here and there for energy. I know people that can do that and not use all week long. Us addicts are a different story. Wouldn't life be just great if we could take 1 and clean the house and not use again for a week or 2 and never have to suffer withdrawl?? I have used on and off since 1996. I have gone 9 months to a year a couple times during that time TOTALLY CLEAN. Then I had a wisdom tooth pulled or had another child (C-section)and started using again. I was always good at justifying using because after all I was in pain. It just doesn't work that way. One pill turns into 2. Then 2 days a week turns into 4 days and so on. It is a cycle and can only be broken by NEVER using again.
On the flip side of not using yes your energy will return and you will have good and bad days like all the rest of us that don't use. I haven't used since Feb 2nd so over 2 months now and I manged to care for 3 children, clean, cook and run all over town. I have my days of being lazy but my energy is gradually returning. I have been doing sit-ups and exercising when possible. Taking multi-vitamins and B-12 seem to help a little too!!!
Congrats on Day # 8 keep up the good work!! Rae

Listen to these people. There is no such thing as ever being strong enough to take a pain pill once you've been addicted to them. It may start slow again but eventually you will start taking an extr one here and there, next thing you know, you're addicted and running out early and if you don't keep taking more and more then you'll get sick. You will go through Withdrawl again if you take a pill so do not do it. There are other options out there. I suffer from Fibromyalgia and my life's a nightmare. I still need my mom to help me put on my shirt and pants because I hurt so bad that I cannot do it. But regardless of how bad I hurt. I cannot take a pain pill because I will go through the same thing all over again and I'd rather hurt than go through that WD again.
Talk to a Doctor about some alternatives to opiates and pain meds. You could do like I do and take Methadone. IT's the best pain medication I've found. You only need to take it once a day and you can have a normal life. But be aware it is addictive too. But it's much safer than hydrocodone, oxycontin, etc... And if you need to come off of it then the Doctors will bring you down in dosage so slow that there's no discomfort whatsoever.
You could also maybe get some form of pain patch, try different creams, take vitamins, physical therapy, hypnotherapy, etc....
There are so many options but Pain pills are no longer a option for you. Even if you've been off of them for 30 years then you still won't be "strong enough to take them" Because it has nothing to do with will power. Once you're addicted, you're always addicted. Trust me on this. You're brain will try and convince you that you need them and you'll do better this time but it's lying. Please, just talk to a Doctor, be honest with them about your pain and your addiction. You just may be suprised. Make suggestions to your doctor. Don't take a medication that won't help if you've tried it in the past like anti-inflammatorys, and if youre doctor seems unwilling to help you once you've said the evil a word (addiction) then find a open minded doctor who will. There's too many other good options out there. Please take advantage of them. I suffer from horrible pain too so I understand how you feel. Do some research on the web. Methadone may or may not be a good option for you but it's just one of many options out there. Take care and remember that you don't need those pain pills to function, you can do it.
