Anti-depressants

Have you used Wellbutrin? Please share your experiences, good or bad. I am trying to determine why I am so bloody tired, still detoxing or side-effect from these pills? Thanks!
How long have you been on the anti depressant? Most will make you tired at first until it levels off. I was on Welbutrin and my Husband was too. He had a seizure which the doctor said could had been caused by that. I didn't have a seizure but got off it anyway.
I somehow doubt it was the cause of his seizure though being that he had a bad infection running rampid through his body. But as I have said, with all antidepressants it takes time to level off. Good Luck. You may want to try cymbalta, heard nothing but good with that.

how long have you been detoxing wonderwoman and how long have you been on the anti depressants? so that we can better answer your question.

Welbutrin can cause seizures in like about 4 in 1000 patients usually on higher doses. Not real common but possible. It can cause fatigue as well. I've been on it before. Takes a couple of months to really see if an a/d is working w/ the exception of Cymbalta which works pretty quick. I liked Welbutrin because I did not gain weight on it. I felt thirsty alot which didn't bother me because I figured I needed more water anyway. Are you sleeping at night??? It can cause insomnia. Be sure to take it during the day and not at night. How long have you been taking it and how long have you been detoxing? Could be a combo. Also what dose are you on.

good luck,
pm
I started taking 150 mg mid september, then increased to 300 mg mid october. I have been clean since September 10 of this year. Why do you think Cymbalta is better, just curious? I was on Zoloft many years ago and it turned me into a zombie. This isn't like that, though, it's just a tiredness that comes over me within an hour of taking a dose. I'm going to get on the treadmill this afternoon again and see if that helps. I slept most of the morning away, which seems to be becoming a norm.

Oh yes, I am always thirsty and I space my doses 8 am and 8 pm. I have ocassional insomnia. What does a seizure feel like? Geez, I need to let my family know what to look for.....
wonderwoman,

i am no expert but it sounds like it could be your antidepressant making you sleepy, i would try taking it at bed time and get some vitamin b 12 for some energy kick during the day. but other then that if its really bothersome ask your dr what he/she thinks. that would be your best bet.

terrianne
The b12 is a great idea. I will try that. I also take an amino acid complex. I did lose a little weight at first too, I noticed. Perhaps I am expecting too much too soon. When i see my doctor next I'm going to ask him for a referral to a certain nutritionist as well.
I was going to ask for Wellbutrin because of my lethargia...Lack of motivation for 6 months. I really need energy. Bonus may be a better attitude. Does Wellbutrin help with that?
Well, considering I've actually got off my a** and got on a treadmill the last few days. I'd say my attitude has changed. LOL
wellbutrin helps me with motivation and depression, I had hoped that my dr would prescribe them, but instead I got Lamactil..
That is awesome!! I will have to check it out. Not sure if he will do it because I have high blood pressure but it is worth a try. Anything is better than lame.
Hey WW! Good to see you here... sorry, haven't been on very much lately. I got a cold, the kids got a cold and i finally took today off so i could rest! And man, that was a great nap! Hee hee! I have been on wellbutrin... but, of course i was also using pills back then too so i can't really give an accurate opinion on them. Right now, i am on cymbalta... just started it monday. I do know that some use wellbutrin to quit smoking... don't know if it works though. But, i bet they do make you tired like all the other ad's do. Good luck to you... i know how aggrivating it is trying to find the right ad. Take care! Love you, Bri :)
Yes, lots of different pills over the years. Prozac made me gain weight. I quit smoking cigarettes almost three years ago without meds. It was easy to quit, I found I couldn't breathe, which was motivation. LOL I remember thinking, "If this is what emphezema feels like, this is scary !!! " Bragged about quitting smokes, but no one knew I had just switched to pot. Went around saying, "I'm a non-smoker." The lies we tell ourselves. Now I'm free of both. Get better Bri, lots of chicken soup......

I have a question for all who are dealing with pain pill addictions.....if you are taking vitamins and/or antidepressants, isn't that a trigger? I mean the whole physical motion of taking a pill.....how do you ever get over that sensation?

It's like the smoking/toking thing. The hands.
bri, I was wondering what you were doing napping with a house full of kids lol.

I actually heard that their is caffiene in it???

wendy, because of my Bipolar...they put me into a manic episode...or at least they did when i first got off coke...
Thanks wonderwoman... i took prozac too...it was the first one i was ever put on many moons ago... lol! It worked but then it seems as if i got immune to it or something. I am glad you quit smoking. I am on my 4th attempt (i think) and this time i am really serious... i haven't had one since last Thurs or something like that... not really counting the days. But, i finally told everyone at the meeting that i am quitting and asked for their support. So far, so good. Chicken soup sounds so good right now. You know, when i lived near memaw and papaw anytime i was sick that would be the first thing she would bring over. Take care WW... :)
OMG Wiver! Gosh no... hee hee... i just have my son here and he watched toons while i napped. I could never get away with that if all of them were here! :)

As for the motion of taking the pills being a trigger... i do have to admit that when i take any kind of pill... cold med, vit, ad... i do have that "feeling" sometimes. It really bothered me at first. But, i think it's getting better. But, yeah, that really did used to freak me out. Good point. :)
I don't necessarily think Cymbalta is better at all. I just wanted to make a point that it begins to work faster while you have to be patient and wait a few months with the others. Welbutrin helps alot of people and has a low risk of sexual side effects and is a rare one for not gaining weight and actually losing weight. Which is liked by many. Also is used to help people quit smoking. If you have high bld pressure make sure you check with your doctor before taking it and if you take it monitor your bld pressure closely everyday as it can increase bp esp in people like me who have a hard time controlling their bp. There is a once a day Welbutrin tab now that might be good. You could try taking it at night. Just notice if it keeps you awake and if it does you might have to rethink when you take it. Alot of people like Welbutrin because it gives them energy rather than some of the others like Zoloft, Paxil which can cause extreme fatigue and huge weight gain. I like Welbutrin but have to be very careful due to my bp.

peace,
pm
My bp is perfect thank goodness. Sorry I misunderstood what you were saying. I just did a little research on the wellbutrin. There is no caffeine in the pills from what i read. BTW I haven't had ANY coffee all week.(I usually have one in the morning and one around four pm) I thought that was strange for me. I don't miss it, or crave it. Apparently, drinking too much coffee can make the effects of the wellbutrin double and possibly cause seizures. It's like my body was letting me know not to drink it. I think that's pretty cool. thanks for all your correspondance/info folks, i appreciate it. Now, i have to go soothe a 9 year old who bombed a math test and then had a classmate announce it to his classroom. Grrrrrrr.
Awwe, poor guy! Kids are so cruel.

WAHOO, my doctor just Prescribed it to me....just called. How cool, he said you may feel jittery. At least that is better than dead!!!!!!!!

Thanks GUYS!!
