Any Computer Whiz Kids?

This might be a little off topic but my computer is running sooooooooo slooooow. I heard something on the radio about a way to delete unused unwanted progams, that you didn't know existed, but are active & running most of the time & eat up a lot of memories.
The only thing i can remember is he said something like: 1. select all programs. 2. I dont remember.

Id appreciate any help. Also, if anyone knows : How do u get pictures from ur digital phone to uyr computer.

By the way,jhow does acrobatsaaaaaaaaaaa

Hey Browndog,,,,,although I am no whiz, i can tell you how to delete all those programs......

1. click on Start
2. go to Control Panel
3. Click on Internet Options
4. Click on DELETE FILES
5. when that is finished, click on DELETE COOKIES

You really need to do this every few days to keep it cleaned out and running smoothly. Hope this helps. Don't know a thing about the phone.
Have a great day1

Microsoft has a new spyware removal tool. It seems to work really well.

Browndog.. alot of programs start up when you start you computor they use up alot of your memory, you can take care of this by going to start click on run and type in msconfig, when the box comes up at the top of the box click on startup you will see a list of things that are checked you can go thru those and uncheck anything that you dont want to load when you restart you computor, just be careful to not uncheck something you need LOL.. like systemtray.. each item has a description of what it is.. then when you are finished click apply and it will tell you to restart you computor.. it will help to make your computor run faster..
dog pay close attention i think i got the problem solved, first of you want to take a screwdriver,if you don't have one of those use a butter knife, and proceed to the back of the comp, once you get there you will notice 4 screws, undo those and lift off the back plate, once inside you will see a bunch of wires[what ever you do don't cut the red wire]then you will manualy pop off the flux copastor, you can't miss it it has two narrow grooves that fasten over the lunar shuttle gizmo, once you have the flux copastor your screwed buddy cas i don't know how to type let alone fix a computer[LMAO]...........VINNY
I think he may need a new johnson rod too Vinny, its helps utilize the capacity.

JD
john dee,how right you are my friend, the johnson rod was my second guess,i'm still thinkin it could be the jet ski molacule or maybe shifter kit lifters with ram
I see you two got this covered, no need for me to get involved....lol...Still having problems Dog?

Regards,
Tom
is it just me or did this thread get big all of a sudden,it covers the entire screen.
I noticed that too.

I really think if browndog just loads and runs Microsoft's new spyware utility, it will fix the problem.

Hawk
btw, I'm a cne, mcse, and all those crap initials that don't mean nothin. but I did take all the classes and been doin it for years
Browndog

You have helped me on other posts. I believe I can help you - in all seriousness. I have a lot of experience, and my husband is a computer super tech. So do this:

. List your specific problems, one by one: What exactly are you experiencing.?You said your computer is slow. A lot of different things could be wrong that affect that - some are easy to resolve, some difficult.

Don't just dump your "cookies," and expect that to resolve everything. That is not all the answer, sometimes it gives some temp relief, but depending on how you use your 'puter, the problems will still be there, or return again. Tell me what happens when you start up. Is your mouse pointer jumping all over the place? Are you getting a ton of pop-ups? Do you visit a lot of "questionable" sites? Do you have any virus protection programs installed? What programs do you have installed? Do you have a lot of short-cut logos on your desktop/screen? Etc. I will ask more questions as I go along but for now, tell me all you can about your computer and how you manage it. Then I can start to make suggestions that might help. I will check back on here tonight.

How capable are you understanding things about the computer? .I would like to know your skill level so I know how to explain things best to you.

Need to go into control panel and delete all unused programs
Then delete temp internet files/cookies
Then run a scan disk
Then defrag and reboot

Let me know if it is still running slow. I'll hook ya up.

thanks guys, my wife has been yelling at me, seems like every time i do something on the computer , she calims i screw everything up & this time all i did was follow vinnys suggestion & then i saw something back there & tried to get creative using a hammer & a jigsaw. if i had only stopped where Vinny said.
hey dog, push at same time ctrl alt delete to see what programs are runiing ,in use...then if you can remeber date when ya puter ran best, delete everything else after...depending on things you may need drivers ect...takes sum studying of there prpoertys and prioritys..cause dont delete wrong thing, itll mess it up,or ya not shure, allways be able to retrieve deleted material, if need to,recycle bin ect...
Hey Dawg,
Make sure no spy ware/addware has got into your puter cos I've just had a nightmare with spyware and boy oh boy does it slow down the p.c. You can get free spyware removal tools, I got a really good one off of the Ntl home page(towards the top right hand corner it says 'microsoft sercurity alerts' I clicked on that and now i have this spyware remover), and now when any spyware is trying to get into my p.c. this spyware remover tells me and removes it..............hope this helps, if not, just ignore me x x x
