Hi everyone,,I am the silent one on the boards..mostly reading and gathering strength from all of you..because I am an addict of Vicoden or Perc's or whatever I can get my hands on.Its been 9 years. I have been doing the Easter Taper (Diane/Bronco..hope you are still feelin' good!) and now that I am cut down to a third of what I was used to taking..my kidneys are in pain on and off throughout the day. Sometimes they feel like they are being squeezed. Just wondering if anyone else has a wd symptom such as this. Didnt feel any kidney pain before( haha)..Are my kidneys ASKING for this crap? Dont worry, I am ignoring their calling, but wonder if I am alone in this.Thanks..
I have felt that from time to time. Drink lots of water, and try some unfiltered straight up cranberry juice (the one from the health food store) and that should help get the crap out.

Thanks for your advice.WIll do. I also just read a post about blood pressure and I am wondering if my BP is off because of the tapering. I wonder if it would be better to go cold turkey instead of dragging this out. Been thru it before..5 days of hell then a week of anger and mood swings..then physically ok but the mental pull is still there.WIll hang in here to get myself thru. I read alot of your posts and can relate. I am cross addicted in a weird way..not alcohol but pills, shopping (serious) and also food..overeating then starvation. I feel I am addicted to being addicted. Need to be addicted to SOMETHING (right now all 3 at once..NOT GOOD) in order not to feel. I am still running from my past which I know I cant do. Not sure how to get off this roller coaster of a ride. Thanks for listening. How are you doing today???
You just described me..lol. I am addicted to not feeling, either. Everytime I get clean, I wake up to reality; wow, what a mess.
Have you tried aa or na? I go, and little by little I am learning life on life's terms, without having to run and hide in something. They give you steps and tools to not run from yourself...
I think I was more capable at 22 than 32 with dealing...but, I am learing again. Good luck, and keep posting.

Tracy,
Pain pill w/d will make you ache EVERYWHERE. I will try to list some items to help with the discomfort. If anyone knows of anything else to help her, please suggest.
Immodium AD
B-12
Midol (even for guys)
water
hot baths
Those are a few things to help you relax and stop hurting. Let me know if any of these things help you.

Please don't throw those 4 day away. You will make it. The first 3-5 days are the worst.

Ive been taking imodiam like 4 at a time im taking advil 400 mils laying on a heating pad I dont know what else to do is this back pain or kidney or bowl pain i have a bad back thats how i got on these in the first place
I agree..dont waste those 4 days..you will make it thru tonight and then tomorrow..the pain is probably a mixture of bowels and kidneys. Last DTX I had..I ached all over and couldnt believe that even my wrists hurt.Thought the pain and diarrhea would end and yes..it does end. There is a light at the end of the tunnel and you will feel ok. Dont do what I did..after 5 days in bed, horrible dt's, I went back a month later. But of course..I am trying again..never giving up til I lick this crap.
Tracey
How about a hot bath ? It really helps. I had a ruptured disc in my lower back. I don't think the pain pills even helped me with that. They did at first but that was a long time ago. I tapered down to really low dose and the w/ds were not as bad as I thought they gonna be. The mental crap that follows is a b**** so have a plan to deal with that.
Frank
Im with you screw that s*** no more really jonesing today though man you know how it is I havent had any energy and my little devil is saying just get 2 just 2 oh my God its a comedy routine Im checking the floors hoping I accidentaly dropped one or maybe even two LOL
Four days girl, that is A LONG TIME, relatively speaking in regards to addiction.
If you relapse, you will eventually have to face this time or die. Those are our options. PLEASE don't make those 4 days go in vain, please stick around and keep posting.
When it gets really bad, remember all of us, we walk in your shoes too. Come here and admit, as you have, you are having trying times. We will be there for you, cheering you on. I am only a month into recovery so I remember very well what you are going through. IT GETS EASIER EVERYDAY, I promise that IS NOT just a cliche.

Kick that devils a** and go look in the mirror and say good for you. Stop looking around the house. Get off the floor. Stop looking in your closets and purses. You don't want to find any !!!!
Frank
thanks i hope i can help people like this someday i didnt find any i stopped looking this is the worst thing i have ever been through i would rather give birth twenty more times than go through this This is crazy looking on floors + under couches for a stupid pill unreal
Your question is one of the first ones I remember posting when I quit pain pills cold turkey last year.... I had just had a friend die of acute liver failure and renal failure from the pills and I was CONVINCED that I was next....
I even went to the Emergency Room to have tests done and show them where I hurt.... Come to find out, my kidneys weren't even in the spot that my lower back hurt (your kidneys are more along the flank area). I didn't realize that when you're getting off of opiates, every muscle in your body hurts (plus, I was so convinced that I had done serious damage to my kidneys and liver that I noticed the pains in that area more than anywhere else).
If you were having real kidney problems, the pain would get much worse and would be very tender to the touch. You would also start running a fever and your urine would become very dark.
That's not to say you aren't having some kidney trouble..... abuse of pain pills DOES cause renal problems.... but it's probably not serious if you don't have one or more of the symptoms above (I am not a doctor, though, so if the problem persists, make sure you contact your M.D.). Like Little Beach said, drink lots and lots of water and/or cranberry juice and avoid anti-inflammatories like Advil or Motrin as much as possible (though you'll probably HAVE to take them during withdrawals for aches and pains; just make sure you don't go above the recommended dosage and only use them continuously for a couple of days).
I had a kidney infection while addicted to Vicodin (during my use, not during withdrawal). My urine was brown and I was sooooo scared to go to the doctor because I was scared my secret would be found out. Lucky for me, I was having surgery and had to have blood work done for that.... they found the infection and prescribed an antibiotic that cleared it up right away.
Hope this helps.

thanks danielle i didnt know about the advil though ive been taking alot of it in the last 3 days and tylenol nothing helping maybe its my bowels from having to run to the bathroom all the time the only thing that stops it is perks or oxys unfortunatly not going there tracey
Frank what do you do for the pain? Tracey
Tracey
Sorry I had to leave for a while. I take excedrin for headachs and I get a lot of them. When my back starts hurting I Take a soma if it gets really bad. I know soma are not good but I have had them for 8 years and I have never had a problem with them. I'm not saying its OK to take them. You can become addicted to them as well. The pain pills didn't really help with the pain anyway.
Frank
thanks frank but whats somna?
