I'm looking into the possibilities of amino acids to help get me off this sh*@! I have wasted so many years, and lost so much to this drug. It really is time to get my act together, but I know how hard it is to kick this habit. I also know that I'm very weak! I work a regular 8-5 job, Monday-Friday, so I certainly don't have the time to "come down" by sleeping it off. I'm also concerned about weight gain. I SO do NOT want to go through that! That's the reason why I started using in the first place. I'm incredibly self-conscious about myself and my body. I just REALLY need to find a way out that won't put the weight back on me and will still allow me to function at work. Any comments on amino acids or other sugestions are greatly welcome.
Thanks!
I was never addicted to meth, nor have I ever tried it. To me it was something that too much of a risk and honestly that terrified me.
However, i did abuse cocaine for a good nine months and gradually and then suddenly sank into a paralyzing depression that has taken me over a year and a half to come out of. For the most part since I still get my days such as today, but you learn to cope.
When it comes to supplementation I must have spent hundreds of dollars on them within the past two years. I tried the detoxification model of sauna and then water. That worked with elevating my moods somewhat and calming my nerves. Then i went through a preliminary trial of amino-acid therapy by taking 5-HTP, L-Tyrosine and a bunch of other vitamins to aid in the catalyzation of them into the vital neurotransmitters. I had some success and I continued. However, the major change happened when I went to a psychotherapist and underwent costly psychotherapy and Wellbutrin SR in addition to Lexapro. I stood on Lexapro in addition Wellbutrin SR for nine months until i felt better and then gradually got off of Lexapro. I think what has helped me was the use of both western medicine in the form of psychotherapy and anti-depressants, in addition to a more holistic approach. I see a Nutritionist, which is cheap since I live in Boulder, CO, which is a hotbed for alternative medicine, and I exercise everyday. I accredit the exercise as to why I haven't gained any weight.
You should think of recovery in a very wide way. There are multiple tools that can be used to defeat the addiction and to aid in keeping the ensuing depression at bay.
