Did you ever chair a speaker meeting and feel like if you get bad speakers it is a reflection on you? I don't know why I do that. Anyway, I had two women speakers because the guy I had lined up is in the hospital. My first speaker is a close friend of mine and she is so good. Tonight she talked to the new ladies about dating. And how when we go on dates we act like ladies now and not like tramps. And that we are treated like sluts if we dress like sluts. I hope some of them listened. She has come such a long way since she came back after her last relapse. She even brought a Big Book with her and read out of it. She likes to talk about how AA cannot be watered down or alcholics will die.
My second speaker just picked up a year and was just as good as the first. I asked her to speak about 5 minutes before the meeting and she agreed which was more than I would have done.
I am amazed at what AA does for people. I watched them both come in as broken, hurt girls and tonight I saw two well-mannered confidant ladies.
So that's over till next Saturday. I still need a speaker for Christmas eve, Sammy? Gina? Lisa? Bob? Its waaarm down here in Florida, ya know.

Sounds like you had a good meeting tonight too. Rachel just posted to me about her double header, and I too chaired at my home group tonight. I had a great speaker too, a guy spoke for his 23 years.

I really feel bad now. I am so sick today, missed my meeting. Now I read how you guys had great meetings!!! I will go tomorrow. I miss them when I dont go.

12 - i told you i would come down there and speak in another thread earlier this morning. all ya gotta do is send me a round trip ticky. sounds like an awesome meeting tonight. i don't think it's a coincidence that things worked out like it did. elizabeth kubler ross once wrote: "learn to get in touch with the silence within yourself, and know that everything in life has purpose. there are no mistakes, no coincidences, all events are blessings given to us to learn from."

Seriously, If you think somehow, you could get up here this month, even for the weekend or something, I'd love for you to speak for me at my home group. I know it's Christmas and all but. If not, I'll try to get the chair next month too.

i'm not sure it will be this month bob - i believe we were talking to david about coming in january. he and my son are planning this, so i'll let you know when the plans are confirmed if you can count me in for january. too cool - let's take this to email.
