I wish he had given me more time but I did get an rx and now it's wait for WD's. He knew I was still on less than 1 mg. of xanax...he said "Try not to take it"...if I knew I was tapered enough to not seize...I would have ditched them. So am I supposed to hope for the best? I am already cranky and it's only been a few hours...He said to wait as long as I could and start at 2 mg...wait an hour and take another 2....no more than 8 mgs. the first day. Then tomorrow, start out at total dose of today....if necessary take 2 mgs. in a hour......no more than 16 mgs. total on 2nd day. I will run out of meds by next week and wil have to see him. Right now I am in a foul mood....just gonna watch tv and try to relax.I hope to God this works...my timing is horrible...I will only be in 12 hrs. by 12 midnight. I asked him if 12 hours was long enough and he said "Everyone is different"...So if I take 1/8 of a xanax what will happen? I am so confused.S

I agree with you Lisa. I stopped taking pills the night before I was to begin taking suboxone. My appointment was at 2:30 the following afternoon. I was given a mini physical before I began. My doctor gave me my first dose of suboxone. I was monitored for almost 3 hours before I was alowed to go home. Before I went home my doctor spoke to me for almost 30 minutes. I was real sure what I was supposed to do and what to expect. I was also given an appointment to return 3 days later. I was given enough suboxone for only those 3 days.
Suboxone isn't anything to goof around with. I don't understand.

You need to find a doctor who works with dual diagnosis patients. You Need to find Pain meetings be in therapy with people who suffer from pain/Depression/Addiction.

How can you be put on sub without Blood work and urine not taken?
Sounds like your just getting suboxone and going to take it n 12 hrs?
I suggest you wait a little while more. Until your really achy sniffles constant drip from nose I would hold out as long as possible before taking first dose.
8mg the first day? then up to 16 mg the second. Not sure if i got that right but the whole story makes no sense to me.

What I know of Sub has come from people on the board, people like you Jeff, Brooke, Amy, Catherine, KeeKee etc...so I'm not making any judgement here, I'm just confused and a little pissed off that there are drs out there that are prescribing sub and shouldn't be. An addiction specialist is the only one who should. Sub should only be prescribed in addition to a strong recovery program. Whether it's NA or therapy. I just don't think that handing someone a script for a powerful drug like sub and telling them to call me in the morning is very smart.
I am upset enough guys...this is MJ's Dr. and I have already gone so if you can help me now...fine...he does not do induction in the office and explained it to me. Yes..I was taken aback by his somewhat cavalier attitude but it's done,,I had to wait for the pharmacy to order it that's why i waited to withdraw. If I don't wait 24 hrs what will happen? Sub will not completely take away your chronic pain but it will stop the withdrawl and craving.

My "mini physical" included a drug test so my doctor would know what pills I was taking. No way was he going to take my word for anything.
Jeff you are so right, you cannnot take "benzos" and suboxone. It's a good way to kill yourself.
His last words to me when I left my first day were "get to a meeting". I did not want to go to a meeting! I went to a meeting.
Suboxone is a strong drug. Suboxone isn't a cure for addiction. Suboxone is a tool.
Money is no object when it comes to saving your life. Good Doctors charge a little bit more because they are qualified medical Doctors, Addiction Specialists who know what they are doing. My entire suboxone detox cost me $650.00, that includes 5 office visits. The suboxone was a seperate expense.
My doctor is in Beverly Hills. I was playing for the privilege of parking my car let alone see my doctor.
I never questoned the money, I questioned the skill and experience of my doctor. This man was well qualified.

Jeff...Im not going to split hairs with you,but I can tell you that he ALSO sent me home with the Sub...Granted I live 5 minutes away,maybe he thinks shes as close who knows.All I do know is he DOES work with addicts,not only in private but also in a rehab center,he does & will bust his *ss to help his patients.
