Does anybody know if there is a problem with continuing taking a benzo script whilst doing an ibo detox. It seems to be bit of a grey area of uncertantiy. The concerns around this are basically when you take Ibogaine it detoxs your body from opiates as well as various other substances, now if this is true also for benzo's then does that leave the risk of acute benzo withdrawl i.e. fitting and seizure's. Or are benzo's quite compatible with Ibogaine, It's a question the dc's arn't sure about, any info would be appreiated, also if anyone has anything to add if they have done an iogaine detox themself it would be mch appreciatd, all the best Carl
The question I have is why you would be considering Ibogaine detox which is not approved therapy?
In short the small risk has got to be better than a life on smack and I like the idea of a one on one holistic detox.
In depth -Appropved by who? the fda, ibogaine is a natural plant/root that has been used for hundreds if not thousands of years as i'm sure you know and here in the uk is a medicine you can be treated with without anyone's dissaproval. I admit it is a fairly grey area the fact being that it is an unlicencesed medicine but at the same time not banned or controlled, a whole lot of investigation is and has been going into it's potential for aiding physical dependancy and the bottom line is it works,,,,and very effectivly if treated under the correct circumstance's.
To be honest I have taken many many substance's that have been dissaproved and categorised knowing fully well that they are doing me damage over the years like many of us. Now to take something which potentialy has both physical and phsycological healing properties and aid my recovery by relieving my physical dependance whilst aiding me theraputicaly at the same time seems quite a possitive step, although maybe a slighlt radical. If however I were in the Gabon in Africa amongst the bwiti tribe, being male it would only be customary to use ibogaine for initation into adulthood, admitedly I probably wouldn't doing smack under those circumstance's either.
Silent Partner I shall not ignore your comment as I have read many snipets of advice you have given along the way and you are either very wise or a right know it all, either way you are well informed across a wide spectrum and anything you say I know can be taken seriously so I do appreciate your response and take on board your view.
Anyway Ibo Vs Benzo do they mix!!!!!!!!!! Carl

I've always been told and these are doctors from bethesda naval hospital, and Walter Reed..in Wash dc..That you shouldnt mix any psych meds with holistic meds,.I say go one route or the other.if you want to replace the benzo , ween off, with Kava tea.im on Klonopin and probabaly will be forever,i dont know how itll effect me when i'm old,but i trust the konopin more than holistic treatment.
wicki I can't answer your question but if you are being treated by a Dr that knows what they are doing they should be able to answer it for you.
My concern with Ibogaine is that there is little empirical evidence to supports its use though it certainly seems promising. I'm not saying don't use it, just be aware of the downsides.
Also, be careful of the "natural" tag, natural doesn't always mean safe. Arsenic is natural, hemlock is natural, kava is natural (and addictive). Just make sure you are aware of the down-sides of Ibogaine so that you are making an informed choice :)

Oh yes I am aware everything has a flip side and there is no magical cure but as you say it does seem promising. I have looked into it very seriously and decided to go ahead with the program which is combined with in depth pre and post assesments including therapy if and when required.
It's a pity Ibogaine hasn't had more publicity, funding and commercial studies but as you can imagine it could be rather a contraversial subject as it does conflict with alot of the current day to day methods of modern medicine. I'm not saying it is a re-design of the wheel at all but it's er lets say a little different? But I hear what you say.
I think the benzo's can be avoided during tratment as it is for such a short period if I time thing's correctly, and then continue with a taper afterwards. Cheers again. Carl

Hey guys,
My question is: I've been hearing about a root/plant that grows in South America. When you take it, you trip balls (hallucinate) and supposedly, when you come down, you never crave opiates again. Is that what you're referring to? I'm not sure what it is called, I'd have to ask my buddy. But I don't think it's Ibogaine. Exactly what is Ibogaine? I'm just looking for anything preferable to what I'm currently going through.
thanks y'all,
h-girl

H-girl, yeah, iv'e heard of that south american plant/root as well, which I think has definatly similar properties, I think they use it to help treat alot of the coca cola heads down there on the old colombian white stuff. From what I saw on the doc and what i'm doing, the tripping, the pucking and the detoxing side all seem very similar, there's also apparently a similar plant used in northern thailand by the monks I beleive which has similar effects. I think they all contain a cetain amount of the same if not similar alkaloids so whether being the the same plant itself or not the end result could potentially be the same. The most mind blowing detox known to man, where you not only detox yourself from opiates but where you can potentially have visions which could lead to some of the sub conscious reasons on why we choose to use and open up windows of our physche we don't even know about. For the light hearted, I think not. I'll let you all know in a few days all being well, cos by Monday I should be, kinda spacd out, feeling like I been run over by a bus, but off the gear. lets wait and see, oh yeah and wish me luck. Carl

Can't someone start an insomniacs forum, this has been doing my nut in, 9 days off the gear and all I ask for is one nights sleep, I feel absolutly shagged all day long, cant even pick up a glass of water, then come midnight-ping and the lights are on but they arn't going off and im wide eyed all night, it's like i'm bveing spiked up with whizz everynight in some sort of sick joke, my daughters here at the moment and wonders why her dad can't move or play with her and I just feel f***ed, never mind the aches from the knees down, oh what sadists we are to ourselves, anyway at least i'm clean and over the worst, I kidded myself it would be 3 days, but oh no, anyway if someone wants to knock me out feel free.

I know you aren't feeling good at the moment but you are doing really well!!!
Well done charlie, Day 1 for me is the worst cos your going into it, once your riding a cluck, just go with it, it can only get so bad, then it starts getting better, iv'e never been able to reduce, iv'e just had to stop cold for some reason, I think I kinda got a lid on it at the mo, although I realise how vulnerable i am, at this early stage, especally with the sleep deprivation. But this time iv'e learn't how to reach out for help and support, which has got me through.
Listen to this this will make you smile-I was with the Dr today at the DDU, and told him about my sleeping etc, you know what he prescribed me, don't watch telly in the daytime and don't drink coffee late at night- I wanted an anesthetic or largactil and he's trying to tell me to leave coffee and cigarettes alone, which I do neither of.
Nice one Kelly 3 1/2 years under your belt, go for it.

I know what you mean about some Dr's.When you are really tired and all you would like is a couple of sleepers the last thing you want to hear the Dr say is 'no coffee and ciggies!!!' my Dr said that to me.They were very reluctant to give me anything as i was already an addict and i also had a little one. They did give me a weeks worth of Zopiclone though and they did help, but that was it.After that i was pretty much ok, i just bought some of those herbal pills from the chemist and some lavender oil and put it all over my bed and in the bath.Plus i was knackered due to my little boy!
Keep going,good luck.
Kelly.

Well the joke just gets sicker-cos soon as I left the ddu they were straight on the blower to my gp and cut my benzo script cold after 5 years, vals and temazepam, they wern't knocking me out at all, just kept me relatively stable, now the dr's blanking my calls and left me in a situation where i'm going to have to do a benzo rattle straight on a cluck. I was hoping to get some sleep in the bank before I started reducing the benzos, it's 11 days i think and i'm still fatigued big time, last time I was sleeping within 6 days, now it's nearly double that, not knocking it at all, chuffed to be over the worse, now it's where the mind can start playing tricks, that's why I could do with a Kip.sleep deprivation is a dangerous game.
know what you mean about the little one's, mines 5, she spent the weekend with me and absolutly burnt me out, she was looking after me, not the other way round. But still 8.00 she would wake up and I would have been up all night, ready to start again, groundhog day thats how it feels right now, but I know it gets betternot worse. All the best Carl

Now then Carl - Although Benzodiazepines are among the most dependence-forming of drugs it is not good news about the Dr stopping your script. And why the hell did the ddu unit do that? They should know a cold turkley from Benzo's can be dangerous and your Dr too. Anyway isn't it down to the Dr if he gives them to you not the ddu? They should reduce you not completely stop them. Alot of ddu's are s**t - they always want you to do things their way and not what would be most suitable for you. That's why I opted for the Stapleford after you told me about it. Catch you laters. Beck
Wow yea i can't believe they have stopped your script srtaight and not reduced you slowly. It can be really dangerous.Someone i knew had a benzo habit, she was buying them on the street. When she run out she had fits and convulsions all the time until she took some.Just you be careful and look after your self ok.
