Does anyone know what happens if you fail a bottle check? I'm pretty sure you have to go daily but how long till you start getting take homes again?
Every clinic and every state has their own method of what happens if you fail a bottle check. Did you fail to show up for the check or were you short medication? I only ask because at my clinic these situations are dealt with differently.
If you fail to appear in 24 hours for a bottle check, you lose all your bottles for 6 months. You still must come in for a bottle check the next day or that 6 months increases.
If you fail a bottle check for having missing medication (at our bottle checks, they break every seal, and use a strip to test for the presence of methadone. Then they put on new tops that reseal the bottles) you lose your bottles for 1 year.
I know these consequences may sound harsh, but when you chose MMT, you also choose to follow the rules of the clinic. Even though the rules seem archaic and like a big hassle, it is what has to be done. One of the very first lessons I learned in recovery was following rules instead of bitching and arguing about them! (not implying that you are doing that, just my personal experience!)
Your clinic will tell you what the consequences are. Do not be afraid to ask for the information. You have every right to be an informed consumer when it comes to your recovery. Let us know how it goes!!!
