Can You Be Overweight & A Junkie?

I think my buddy's dating a closet junkie. Can junkies be overweight? She uses her weight as proof of her not using but a lot of other things don't add up. She used heroin for years and tapered off to recreational coke use. The woman has a pharmacy in her purse, all sorts of prescription pills. She's told my buddy that she's quit using but she still hangs out with her supplier and has used coke a few times in front of others. I thought cokeheads were skinny? Is it possible to be overweight and be a junkie too?
I don't understand why you would think that being an addict would make you thin...I was always about 20 lbs overweight and I was shooting coke.

Some of my friends were overweight, some were average sized.

Addicts come in all shapes and sizes.

People are people and addicts are addicts, I think you must have a stereotypical picture in your mind about addicts. It can be your teacher, your neighbor, the man who delivers your mail. All sorts and all walks of life.

Maybe you should do a search on pictures in the bottom right hand corner, there are threads with pictures of addicts. I think you will be surprised to see that we are just people
Yes, I do have a stereotypical image of what addicts look like. Like the Kate Moss, Iggy Pop type. My buddy & I haven't been around people like this in our lives and he's only starting to learn to recognize signs. His girlfriend insists that because she's overweight there is no way she can be a junkie. I think I can safely say that she is full of it now
I bought my coke from a dealer nicknamed "Whale" - thinness is definitely not a requirement of addiction. I gained about 50 pounds in the four years I used and lost it all as soon as I stopped. Seems counterintuitve, but happens all the time.
