Chewing Gum? Do I Need Sugar

Hi everyone,

Just wondered if I am crazy or what. When my head starts feeling all funky if i chew a piece of gum it stops. Is that weird or what? do you think I am low on sugar? Yesterday while watching tv I got these little squiggly things in front of my eyes. It took about 10 minutes for them to go away. Low blood pressure maybe? I dont know, can any of you tell me?

Morning,
I do know if I would say low on sugar or in need of food......Are you eating well? You could try to eat smaller meals closer together or snacks in betwwen every meals to keep your blood sugar stable. Fuzzies in front of the eyes, I guess could be blood sugar or pressure......not sure........anyone know if it is one thing or both. I would try the meal thing....\
Hope this helps, feel better,
Tina
Hi Tina,

I know I do not eat like I should. Even if my stomach is growling I just dont feel like eating. I can go all day and not eat until night time. Which is bad I know. I have not been back to a dr since I stopped the pills, maybe a check up wouldnt hurt. At this point though, I hate my dr too. Just scared of what he may want to prescribe next...

Well I think that you figured out this all by yourself. You got to eat that is your problem......you will feel much better. You don't want to pass out somewhere you could get hurt. Grab something even it if is small.
I have had a bad habit for years of not stopping to eat lunch or taking the time to eat dinner cause Id rather get my work done but around 3 pm I start going ape sh--. some addicts have terrible eating habits and we need to keep check of our blood sugar. some posted several days ago that we should eat a hypoglycemic diet in early recovery hope it helps Ray
Ray is right. This is ONE thing I know about. As your body flushes drugs or alcohol out of your system, you crave sweets. And your body actually needs the sugar. What I found really helped me were Popsicles. I ate them by the dozen. And hospitals actually keep them on each floor for people. Just make sure it's not the sugar free type. When my Mom detoxed, I never understood why she ate so much candy and ice cream. I mean, she was a nut for it. Now I do. So, perfectly normal. Try the Popsicles or those frozen Fruit Bars. Those helped too.
Is that why I was craving chocolate, I thought I was having a period.

Rae,

yea, you are right, I have to eat normally, but sometimes it is hard as hell, like this weekend we were moving, we started at 8am yesterday and did not get done until 3am this morning. It was hell, all I ate was a hamburger from the fast food joint. I was dragging and feeling horrible. But I kept going. It can not be good for my old body. Hope to actually eat today, and then back to unpacking boxes, ugh. Need a real big boost of energy today!
