I said I would post back once I had read the book. H : Autobiography of a Child Prostitute and Heroin Addict.
I was gripped from page one, started it yesterday and finished it this evening. If I never had any clue about heroin addiction before, I do now. I'm amazed that she made it. The film tallies very closely with what is in the book although the book is far more detailed of course.
I am actually very inclined to be in awe of those that have made it through heroin addiction and out the other side, I can't imagine that feeling of desperation one must feel once withdrawal sets in. I myself know the feeling an alcoholic gets when there is no drink around, blind panic I'd do anything to get it.
I'd recommend Christiane's book and film to anyone who wanted to be informed about heroin.

i went to 2 different libraries, and neither had it in their database--what does the f stand for??i want to read it but like i said i couldnt find it--im in the states, is it les prevalent here? i looked it up different ways--what is the correct spelling?

Yes the book is very expensive and no I don't know why. There must be a fair few copies kicking about as it topped the best sellers list for two years on release. But it is highly recommended, you wont want to put it down.
