Correct Representation

I am currently in a scene study class.
I was assigned a scene in which i am a user who is down on his luck.
To correctly represent those of you who are struggling with this difficult battle i wanted to ask, what does it feel like to come down?
After using for a while...what does it feel like to not have it for a day or 2?
I dont want to offend anyone, and i ask that only those who are comfortable talking about their stories to please respond.
The last thing i would want is to incorrectly represent someone in this situation.
If anyone could please give me some information on such a difficult topic i know very little about that would be wonderful.

Thank you,
.resilience.

A good idea is to read different threads that people have already wrote.
Ther are hundreds of them take your pick.

Thanks, ill do that.

are there any threads that you know of that have personal stories posted?
You can look at the end of a persons thread and click onto it.
I dont know if you are just checking heroin addicts.
There is a good one i have already read and it is on the cocaine board the person is called wolf or should i say the author because he is getting it published.

If it is just heroin, and a person has their story already printed out it will be at the end of their thread.
Check success stories and recovery diaries

Good luck

Exactly which kinda user are u? A real hardcore gram-a-day-or-more addict, or a person w/ a smallish habit? In My Personal Experience, a Hard User would be so bloody ill they could hardly stand up;you'd just be rollin around, diahrrea, nose running, eyes watering,YAWNING,massive cramps in legs (that's why its called Kicking),--imagine, if u will,an allergic reaction w/ the added anxiety of a nervous breakdown.Restlessness & fear, yet an overwhelming tiredness.Like pulled in two directions @ once. And the knowledge that all this can go away w/ a shot.I am always greatly entertained by the errors in the Theatre--Gene Hackman in French Connection 2 was hilarious--he was more like a drunk w/ dt's than an addict coming off gear.In Christiane F. their withdrawl (projectile vomiting, etc.) was really rather disgusting-& I felt, excessively over-the-top,like a "ScaredStraight" film clip.In fact I really can't think of anyone, in any production who has gotten it right-tho you may wanna check Matt Dillon in Drugstore Cowboy or Leo DiCap in Basketball Diaries--been a while since I've seen either-& concidering I sorta Live It, I don't need to See It,u kno?But remember this: an addict, kicking, CAN pull themselves together, if need arises- I've been kicking like a mule & gone thru Customs, talked to Cops etc. & not been hauled off to the can. If u can Maintain, often Withdrawl can look like a bad cold or an allergy attack.Depends on how gullible yr. audience is.& the size of yr. habit.Good Luck break a leg-Don't embarrass us! (just kidding!)
P.S. Forgot one important thing: The Chills--first to come, last to go-A withdrawing person gets massive involuntary shivers-& they seem to come in waves, also sweats.(boy ain't this a fun drug?) They seem to alternate, too.First you're cold cold cold, then hot hot hot.Maybe putting on taking off clothes could effectively show this. I was gonna suggest pulling a real Method thing where u go out & do dope for a week then you'd really know, but that is mean-spirited.Or call Bob Downey,Jr. HE'D KNOW. Break a leg!
that was REALLY helpfull! : ) thank you so much.

funny thing is, is that im doing a scene from basketball diaries
and i have to play leonardo dicaprio
i thought his performance looked really realistic..but how would i know ive never been in that situation before.
however; it does seem like "hollywood" plays up the drug in most heroin involved films.
thank you for all your help : )
i really appreciate it!
it'll help me out a lot!
