After a night of heavy drinking, the next day I had a runny nose. What was weird about, the discharge coming from my left nostril smelled like alcohol. Should I be worried?
My guess is Frank that you drank faster than what your liver had time to metabolize the alcohol you had which perhaps was also quite a bit? Perhaps you had eaten something which takes time to digest which means that the alcohol did not pass through your stomach and into your gut quickly so some of it managed to push back up towards your mouth area and you could either have become nauseous and had some of that 'back wash' come out through your mouth but in your case - it simply leaked out via your nose.
Hopefully it was a once off thing which can happen....
