Cymbalta Experience Happy New Year

Hi Everyone!
happy new year!!!!
hey i talked to my pharmacist today about cymbalta.
he said that it is new here but in the future will be used for pain control as much as depression. he said it hold promise for neurological pain.
i was thinking wow kill 2 birds with 1 stone!
i know some of you have written about it
do you have chronic pain and did it help you?
did you have to wean off it if you came off it
it is not a narcotic but an antidepressant also used in pain control
everyone is so eager to hook ya on a narcotic
i hate taking anything but also respect quality of life
i'd love to find something that is helpful but nonnarcotic
please share if you can.
thanks

i am specifically wondering:
did you notice side effects and if so what were they?
did it help with pain control?
did it raise your bp, cause wt gain or make you not able to sleep?
did it help depression w/o feeling weird?
anything .............
i hope that it's okay to ask this. i'd really like to find a doc. who will
rx something besides oxy. i just can't go back to that.
thanks

Hi PM,

My husband started taking cymbalta before I did for his pain. It didn't help him much for the pain. Far as an anti depressant it is great. No side effects. Well the first day I felt a little sick but it passed fast. No weight gain or anything negative I can see from it.Only possitive and unlike other anti depressants I've been on this one only took a couple of days to feel some relief from the depression, not weeks. I've been on it for a month and a half now. So we'll see if it continues to work, unlike the other stuff. The other stuff and I took many would stop helping after a time.
Happy New Years.

Love,
Liz
Thanks Liz,
The information helps. I have been taking Remeron. I do notice it has helped
me sleep but I also gained some weight on it. I have taken Welbutrin. It did not help my pain much but took some of the hypersensitivity out of my system and I had more energy. I had problems controlling my bp with it.
So we will see.
Thanks for the info.

Thanks, I will have to look into that...
Sounds like something I might want to try..

Hey PM,

I was also thinking about what I said about my husbands pain he has. I take that back. See the cymbalta isn't helping his nuerological pain right now because he has this bad infection on his feet that went to the bone. So that triggers more pain from the Neuropathy. The cymbalta might help with pain. I would definitely check into it.
I was also on remeron. It helped me sleep as well, but I was gaining weight so fast. So I stopped taking it. The cymbalta I have found to be the best.

Love,
Liz
Hiya Kerry
Happy New Year!!!!

Hey Liz,
I am going to talk to my doctor about it. I was excited when I talked to the Pharmacist because my docs are so happy to give me Oxy and Vics and all that addictive stuff but I've been taking myself off all that when I can.
To find something to help is worth a try.

I started exercising at Curves for Women.
For all you women out there..... if you need to get it moving I suggest trying this.
If you are not in good shape, have problems exercising due to physical limitations. Want to help your body.

I've only done it 2 weeks and I notice I feel much better emotionally and physically. The machines are not difficult. Some machines I cannot use my right leg but wow just to find something to help and feels positive is something.
You do it at your own pace. So it's a thought. I know depression seems to run heavy in us folks and this is one thing that seems to show some promise for myself. Plus you are in and out in 1/2 hr to 45 minutes max. depending on how much you stretch after.

So wanted to pass it on as something new I'm trying. I'll keep you posted.

love,

Hey PM,

What is the cost at curves? I have been thinking of wanting to do something like that, I work hard when spring comes and all summer. No work in the winter and I get so out of shape.

Love,
Liz
Here in Colorado Curves is $29/month. I think there is a one time charge of $79.
When you go in the first time they gather a bunch of information and do all your measurements. Then they show you the proper way to use the machines.
Then you let it rip! They weigh and measure you every months for progress check.
