Dang Tooth00

Back to my tooth ordeal. the dds called this a.m. and i have an appt. on monday morning. they said they dont do root canals on back molars, that they would refer me to endoperson. She also said that maybe i wouldnt even need one, talk to the dds blah blah blah. Im thinking of just getting the darn tooth pulled. i cant handle having to keep going back over and over to get tortured. I keep thinking this must be one of those little "tests" to see if i will use over it. And the thought has crossed my mind... all fear based. Anyway, sorry for the lame post just needed to vent... Im in a bad space right now, no big deal. I dont think i would mind if i was toothless back there, i just wont smile wide and i havent eaten on that side for a while now anyway, it would probably be easier right???????? sigh
Not sure if you have Dental insurance but I do know it will be cheaper than a root canal. I would ask them to get you on antibiotics right away or are you taking the one's you have on hand?

Sorry you were in pain on your birthday. That bites (no pun)

My DDS told my son that his mom was ALOT stronger than he was. lol He is 6'3" and 220 lbs of muscle and was almost crying in the chair...lol

Seriously, Im a little stronger than the next but you know they arent going to kill you and it is temporary.
wow wiverson
your post was so uplifting--NOT!! hahaha
no, im not taking the antibiotics yet. i think i should wait and see what the dds suggests. Oh well, just another bi*ch of a thing to deal with--- I will keep you posted with my whining!! take care--fire :)
LMAO,

Be strong FIRE...You have kids right?...You have to set an example...You can cry and beat your pillow in your room with the door closed when they arent around. Shoot darts at a picture of your DDS.

I would rather have car, computer or my dishwasher broke personally than go there but it is a necessary evil.

Good LUCK!!!!
Honey,

PLEASE DO NOT GET YOUR TOOTH PULLED...i would seriouslyquestion ANY drs integrity that would even DO THAT!!! Pull out a perfectly good tooth that has proper bone structure......

A simple xray will ell if you need a rootcanal...back teeth have 4 canals and take a bit longer, thats why some general dentists dont do it...time money thing..

You dont understand thaT even if you could find a dentist stupid enough to PULL your tooth....it will open up a whole new can of worms for you..

The teeth on either side of that tooth will start to lean to take up the space...your bite will become off...you can get headaches from that...TMJ problems and on and on...thats why if we absolutely NEED to lose a tooth, if its loose, no bone to hold it in place..we get bridges...to hold up that space.

YOU DO NOT want to get it pulled...PLEASE dont do that honey..you will regret it..i promise.
Our teeth are a gift..save them atall costs.

Hugs

Ali
Firesign,
hang in there with the tooth and try not to get it pulled. I got really sick 2 months after getting out of rehab...was in a lot of pain (female issues) and I too kept thinking that it was a test and why was this happening to me. But I made it through without pills and it passed. Get some antibiotics and try not to focus on why it's happening. It will be ok. Like Ali said, getting it pulled could do a bunch of stuff. But I'm not a dentist...wait and see what you dds has to say.
I'll keep you in my prayers.

Toothaches suck!!!!

Im not a dentist either, but know the field well...was a Dental hygenist for more than 10 years, worked for almost every specialist in Vancouver and did a year at Childrens hospital in the dental O.R. Dept..

So Im very confident in the advise...thats all..

Hugs,

Ali
Hey Fire, sorry your tooth is still bugging you... I really would not get my tooth pulled if I were you... Only do that as a last resort...Take care...Oh, put an aspirin on it and let it dissolve and you should get a little relief, if it is hurting..
the thing is the tooth is like 3/4 a filling. very small amt of real tooth. the hygenist today said it could be a leak or something like that. i took a small nap today and its hurting on the whole left side of all my teeth--upper and lower. Then the pain goes away and its like there is nothing wrong at all. I HATE going to the dentist, i cringe just to get my teeth cleaned. oh well. Im sure i will be posting here like mad on monday when i get back from the dentist! Thank you guys for all your replys--i really appreciate them---even yours wiver! haha!!
What about the antibiotics? Can you get any today and get the ball rolling?
well i have some amoxcillin at my dads house but im a little "ify" on taking them
i dont know why. one of my friends who had about the same thing done said i should probably wait. ---she did get her tooth pulled though! ha!
I'll just get it pulled and tell people im from north georgia. haha!
kidding really!!! i hope no one takes offense. i am a southern girl by my dad anyway--- hes from gutherie ky--- he has teeth issues too--LOL!!
Hey Fire,
Don't take the amoxy from your friend. Antibiotics are tricky and need to be taken...all of them. Wait for the doc.
Where are you? In GA? I'm in northern Cal.
Pam (Omega)
Im in MIami-- i was just being a smarta$$ on the last post! sorry! Im really tired of miami though-- busy busy busy city--- Im sure you can relate living in Cali, right? The majority of people here are spanish and since i only speak english it gets annoying sometimes. oh well---such is life. At least my kids are learning to speak spanish and they can fill me in-hahah!!!
firesign, my doctor to pulled mine at my request, not his, it was in the back/top you can't tell it is gone, it has been two years, and I have not had any problems.
It was beyond root canal repair, they would have had to reconstruct bones, (major surgery), to put a new tooth in, recovery time was way too long, would have been numerous trips to the Dentist, didn't want to deal with it.

Good luck with it.

Ice packs helped me some people use heating pads instead.

That's ok.
In Miami? I can totally relate to what you are saying. I wish I was back in western Mass., where I grew up. I like New England and miss the 4 seasons. What's the weather like wwhere you are today? It's been about 60 today.
Omega
PS-My real name is Pam but I use Omega here b/c Florida girl is Pam and don't want to get confused.
Pam,

sorry honey but that one is an old wives tale..lolol

DO NOT PUT ASPIRIN ON A TOOTHACHE

IT WILL LITERALLY EAT THE TISSUE AWAY!!!!!

Its okay Pam...youd be surprised by how many people came in with this blistering ulcer and thought it was the right TX.

hugs

Ali

BROOKIE POO!!!
that was the answer i was looking for!!!! i guess sooner or later i would find the answer i was looking for right???hahaha---thank you all for your replys--- i will just see what dds says and go from there--you all have been a big help!!
Firesign

You obviously are looking for support to get your tooth pulled.

Brookes story sounds somewhgatdifferent then yours...she had problems that you dont seem to have and in fact stated thatthere was need for more bone support...Brooke..it was probably already loose??

Obviously if you want it pulled, nothing i can say will change your mind...lol but iu would be surprised that a dentist would do that if it wasnt a hopeless conditon.

The very back 2nd or even third molar isnt so bad to loose. In fact our 3rd molar is the wisdom tooth and very often isnt even in occlusion( meeting the opposite tooth) so having the wosdom pulled doesnt cause the bite problems i talked about earlier....

Your call...10 plus years of denatl experience is worth a little something...i advise having a tooth pulled is the last resort ( except wisdom teeth..they are often coming in wrong and can be hard to keep clean anyway...)

Hugs to making the right desision for YOU
