Hope everyone is doing great
steve,

congrats on one more day, thats how you do it, one day at a time. how did your day go?

terrianne
Rae who posted that if you do not go to meetings that you cannot make it? That is B.S
jeff,

that is what someone told steve from this board in email. luckily it didnt scare him off into thinking that was the case. case he has a lot to offer here already. as you can see he is a strong wise and determined man.

terrianne
I agree you can do it without going to meetings...its called will power and wanting to do it for yourself. When I went to NA a few weeks back I saw a number of folks who were strung out, then they were also the ones telling me to come back..oh my...I'd rather be in my own space doing it my way. And yes I am still go'nstrong without methadone.and feel so much better..So it can be done. I think if we can always keep in the backof our minds the pain we went thru with the w/d that it should be a reminder to not use again. But then again thats just my opinion...
congrats on Day 14 ...your sounding very positive in your recovery
Terrianne if people are going to be there own doctorsa THEY WILL FAIL.

We are all diffferent. I have not had an urge to get high in 18 months. But Iam depressed. So I am atttacking this illness head on. I get angry frustrated have gone to more meetings in past 3-4 months and find people stating A/D suboxene its a crutch. No its not. You hiding in th walls and being judgemental is what I found in many meetings. But one great thing about AA is if you want to be there you will hear something good and find a winner. always something positive if your mind is open. Otherwise why waste your time.

AA/NA is filled with Good/Bad /ugly--

I thought we all overcame the B.S from past weeks. Guess not. I read where people are stopping to post ? What was said that could bring such negativity?

Who has that much power over this board?

All i know is last week was the best week I had as surgery is over no opiates and A real niice super duper mom got her girl back. That is what this board is about . Helping people--In turn I feel good and it helps me in my recovery.

jeff,

i agree with you, did you think i was starting to come off combative? if so i apologise, you answerede a questioned, i answered. i know your post was directed to rae, maybe thats where the misunderstanding came along. i apologise. no arguments here.

terrianne
Krazi this I have lots of sobriety on and off. From age 1-12

I was sober I think. LOL--

Krasi My first true AA program was to get me off Cocaine. AA saved my life.

This to me is logical.

Basic Program--commit to therapy 90-90 AA-NA meetings read the big book with your sponsor in areas where you think your problems are.

Getting clean with fellow addicts makes sense. If you do not like it you just do not go back. You can still remain sober and happy.

If you have insurance I would seek one on one therapy. Change our day to day habits. Healthy Food --vitamins exercise will lead to quality sleep. Most important. IMO eating correctly exercising taking vitamins and getting proper sleep is the most important changes in staying sober. JMO

THERE IS NO RIGHT OR WRONG WAY TO GET SOBER.

take care--Jeff
traci,

there are also other great books to read as well, i started out with the 4 agreements. just read every and all books pertaining like the one everyone is talking about, a million lil pieces, by some frey guy. but the key is read and soak up as much as you can that you can apply to your daily life and surround yourself with outhers whom believe in similar concepts and have long clean time cause of it. educate and empower yourself with knowledge hold on to the power and let go of what feels negative to you.

terrianne
I was all pumped up yesterday, was heading to the library to get a few books to read.. Ohman I was hella bummed when I got there.it was closed....so going to go today..I will see if the book is available, if not order it...
I had gotten my son who is 17 and smokes pot, a book about pot and the affects..now he is doing a report on it..I think it is helping him, he seems to have slowed down, sicne he has been home all week nights this past week...every little step is a good step

Jeff Suboxman.. This is what Steve said in the beginning of this thread..

Hey yall
Well day 12 is down I havent been posting much just reading and with all the hostilities..thought we were here to help each other..we all are different and get sober in dif ways..I got a few emails from a couple ppl here saying I couldnt do it without meetings,,well I will prove you wrong still strong and clean
and I hope everyone else is doing well also
Just dont take Them
Times of trouble dont build charecter...they just bring it out
Stevee

Then I said:
Steve,
Hey congrats on Day 12... Your doing good. I can't believe people would e-mail you and make you believe you couldn't stay clean without meetings. That is just ridiculous. Relapse can happen no matter if you go to meetings or not. I wouldn't dare tell someone they wouldn't make it without going to meetings. Yeah right.. I am sure meetings have saved many people. It gives other addicts a chance to be with people that understand them. It gives them people with good clean time to call should they have a craving etc. I admire anyone who can go to meetings and stay clean and is willing to go to any lengths for their recovery..

On the other hand I admire anyone that can work, take care of children and not attend meetings and do it on their own.. I have been clean now for 9 months. I believe in God and I pray, I have friends I can call if I need to and a supportive family I can turn to should I feel the need to use. Meetings aren't a part of my life.. I just take it one day at a time and I know I can never have pain pills in my house without taking them..I know people who have had many years of clean time and have done it without meetings. So it's just a personal choice that's all. If your clean and your happy and your dont make the choice to go get more pills then you'll be just fine. Everyone has choices to make in life.. What works for one may not work for another!! It's just that simple and it's like that with everything in life..

If you ever want to talk e-mail me at Bunny4804@aol.com I'll be here for you if you need to talk. Rae ( Rachel)

SO I hope your not confused about what was said anymore. You take care and have a great weekend. I am walking out the door. Rae

wow day 15 down...lol I dont know how I did it..without the meetings,,or one on one therapy..I am sure that works for some,,but not me that would be giving the sickness too much power,....for me I treat it like a annoying nusince..and It damm sure aint enough to beat me..I am still clean and strong on day 15..
I am in very good spirts..I guess maybe because I am starting over at 46 and this is just 1 of many hurdles I have faced and beat On the way to my new life
and I like the guy I see in the mirror and Im sure that helps..anyway just wanted to throw my two cents in,,and say there is no RIGHT way to get sober I put myself to the final test last night and went to our weekly card game,,,the booze pot and pills flowed freely,,but not for me,,lol it was a lil annoying with theses guys all being wrecked and me straight as a arrow..but it was profitable, lmao
Thanks Yall
Just dont Take them
Steve
PS where are ya skeeter
hope you are still hanging tough
