Has anyone heard of detox 5 or 7?
Do you have them in the States they are popping up all over this side.
Has anyone done a Detox 5?
Anyone who knows anything medical - more medical than me - (not hard as what i know about medicine you can write on a very small headache tablet)
Could you look at their website and tell me what you think about it as a methadone detox - the detox at home have anurse come to live in your house section was interesting?????
many thanks
karen
Don't know if i was looking at the right website....i had a quick look now, but also last night i was looking at different detox websites. whats the exaxt name of the website?
My BF is in the middle of a detox. I don't know exaclty what programme he is following....but it's about a 5 day detox. and sounds simliarish, to what i was reading about the 5 day detoxes. But this isn't in a private clinic but its free...in a hospital.
I haven't seen him yet, only spoke to him, they are giving him something to cleanse his system and apparently yesterday he was really bad, so bad that they didn't give him another dose today and are waiting until tomorrow to give another dose to him. so today he has been a little bit better....not good but not terrible.
I am going on sat to see him..i will let you know more then as i hope by then i will understand more, about the detox.

Sashab,
They had one clinic but now there seem lots and I read the blurb which seems to say they sedate you at first. It's private but you can get a NHS referal

Jazzie Jazz,
Just checked it out.......yes, we have that here.......actually we have the dude invented the Natrexone Pellet......I know his name, but not sure if it would be O.K. to list it here because it's been a great controversy.
Sasha's man being that sick.......yepper.........I've heard from "lifers" like old head addicts.......that is one awful, awful wallop.......as well as young people who it made just so terrible sick that they were so afraid out their wits....these are people kicked a bajillion times so they know.
The thing is they put you under so you don't feel the initial usual detox symptoms.......I saw it on camera and they showed the goose flesh and the sweating and all, but the person is under.......then they'd sew the pellet in them and send them home.
The thing with naltrexone after you are sick and getting to feel better.....if you haven't dealt with the sychological part of the addiction........you're going to use..you use with that pellet or your doses........that's when people OD......first off you're going to do the amount ya did before...........BAD MOVE.......and compensate for the blockers.........OR you cut the pellet out or don't go to get it replaced on time.
There's a forum I saw Jazz where people who have done it......they talk about it.....I only typed in detox5.uk............got a forum.
My girlfriend is a drug/alcohol counselor........not a big fan of that method.....and Tres she went to him......the guy in our area.......he used to have HUGE billboards all over with HUGE letters saying this will be the end to your addiction...........no pain in detox.............there's no quick fix as we all know......then there's people that have been helped....that was their last chance......they were desperate.....they got through it.........and are clean.
Hope that helped a tiny bit..........Sasha I hope your man feels a little better.....I have heard it's horrendous..........as soon as they give it to ya awake........IMMEDIATEL every sickness symptom ya ever had.......BAM.....it's upon ya..............btw, Tres didn't have that done.....pretty sure he may have did a methadone detox on her..........she met the guy though.
All better days for ya ladies and your dear partners.

Alright Jaz? Channel 4 done a programme last year about 3 people going into detox 5, two were coming off heroin and one was coming off methadone. It followed them from their last hit / smoke / methadone right through til they had done the detox for the whole five days, hence the name. 2 were allowed home on the fourth day but the girl on the methadone was kept in one more day.
What they do is sedate you on some pretty heavy drugs for the four days so you don't go through the rattles. All 3 of them were feeling quite 'good' at the end of it and were talking and feeling positive. I know it costs a few grand to get into one, but i think they are worth it. All the best, Kev

from experience.....did the quick detox, didnt work, thing was office gave you meds to help you and yuo admisntered to yourself...........as a junkie of course did them all at once........still got sick in the end.......one time I did it.....went to detox facility after taking these meds and they said my blood pressure was so low they couldnt admit me and i should go right to er...........i didnt........any time i detoxed it took more than five or so days for me to feel better.........well better enough that i didnt want to get high........never had the implant........was too much money.........I just know it took me more than a few days of feelng "better" to stay clean.....took knowledge of my addciton, trying to deal wiht why i used etc.........and lots and lots of ppl to hep me from the rooms of na to counselling...........
Thanks
It seems this is not so good they sedate you till you're almost in a coma and then you do the rattle and then send you home. Worrying because these places seem to be sprouting up everywhere and not so ethical.
Recovery what a minefield.

Jazwan, I replied over on the other thread.
Yeah, I saw a video of it when the people were under. Honestly, I though I rather kick awake, and go the five days or whatever.
Didn't want to be all negative though in case. Yo, this was like in a hospital setting too, and they were zooming in on the goose flesh and all going "Yes, see they are still going through withdrawl, BUT......". But yeah they are like almost in a dang coma.
Again, just me. Hoping Sasha is having a decent visit.
