in contrast to 12's thread, thought i would start a thread as to what helped me and will add to it as time permits. please feel free everyone who has embraced recovery to add to this thread.

What helped me was having a very caring friend who I felt I could talk to who had walked this road before me :-)

Hi Sammy,
I've told you before...you helped me so much in the early days. Walked me through some tough ones. Also all the meditations and prayers etc you and others post help as well. I've learned a lot from this board...many aspects of the 12 steps I've found enormously helpful as well as good advice from others walking this path we're on. I thank you Sammy for treating us all with love and respect and for being so generous with your time and efforts for us all. You help me dear!
How are you feeling and how is your health doing? I'm still praying for you! Beck

Cutting off all sources, changing cell phone #, cutting up "special" credit card
This board...
and all the caring people on it. Most of them are gone now. (sigh)
Long walks on my horse. No direction, just walking. My way of meditating.
Meetings, listening to those that had done everything wrong and learned to do it right so that I didn't have to keep making those mistakes over and over.
My boys. They were my HP and inspiration for so long. Still are.
