Diet And Hep C

I hate to bring up the dreaded subject of Hep C but most ex iv users have it so I'm just wondering how you people are dealing with your diet (those who have this disease ) because I've noticed how it affects me. I've always been a meat and potatoes man but I'm finding too much red meat is starting to hurt (my liver). I'm trying to eat more salads and veggies, but like this is a big change! I love my rib eyes and baked potatoes (with all the goodies) so any advice as for food would be greatly appreciated. Anyone getting hungry? LOL! Mike.
Drink lots of cranberry juice...the real stuff, not the cocktail, it's unsweetened...watered down to about 4 oz. juice with 8 oz. water. You can add a little Stevia for sweetness, or honey, or whatever. This is a great liver cleanser along with milk thistle, which comes in a capsule at the health food store. Naturally check with a doctor. The dietary changes are really good, mike, all that red meat is not good at all for your liver, too hard to process...sad I know as I too am a carnivore.
Thanx Mom,I'll try it. I've heard of the milk thistle and the same goes for it. Nice to hear from you,Mike.

It is just amazing or luck of the draw that I avoided all major diseases through those long yrs of IV use- but many didnt. The doctor at my clinic has pamphlets that he hands out- and it happens that I found it right here by the computer (what were the odds??)
-----------------------
People with hepatitis C don't need to follow a special "hepatitis C diet." The advice that an average, healthy person gets will work just as well for people with hepatitis C, unless those people also have cirrhosis or another condition, such as diabetes, HIV, or kidney disease.

Eat regular, balanced meals
Eat plenty of cereals, breads, and grains
Eat lots of fruits and vegetables
Get adequate protein
Go easy on fatty, salty, and sugary foods
Drink enough fluids
Reach and maintain a healthy weight
Cautions:

Avoid alcohol
Be careful with dietary supplements

Im sure your doc could tell ya a lot more- and this is only a small pamphlet from a mdone clinic- but I hope it helps a bit. I know many people that deal with HepC -and as long as they watch thier weight and diet ,they are fine . Even better than me most of the time- -
best,
jack
Hi Jack, love your avatar. Now if only someone could explain to me how to post some pictures, I would show you people what I look like and some of the scenery around here. People, places and things. I'm sure you would love it out here. Approx. 7 women (beautiful) for evey guy! Slow down, and I'll show you. Mike.
Where's that Tres?

Mike my friend has Hep C. She follows no diet. Runs herself ragged. Works her hinney off and helps take care of her two year old grandson. Oh and is at the beckon call of any poor waif, stranger or ME! I worry sick about her.

That's good you are caring for yourself Mike.

I shall make the chica get on here and look at this. I do recall her ex using some kind of liquid silver or something like that. I don't recommend it because the guy also lived in a wigwam so there you have it. I think Tres did the milk thistle as well.

For the life of me I have no idea how to change an avatar or post a picture. I leave that to Jack and GYAC. That is funny though Jack's avatar.

Dude where do you live, Alaska? 7 women to every man? A fellah can't beat those odds. Might as well go around snapping pictures of chicks on the street shoveling. LOL NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DO NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am joking.

I'm glad you're taking care of yourself. Meat and potato man! Get you some brown rice.

My goal is to try and stay straight. As for my assertations, you would have to come here to see for yourself. I'm off to see a shrink tomorrow, who knows maybe I can get some help. As for east coast vs. west coast, well those almost sound like get down and dirty words. Correct me if I'm wrong. I've been hanging out with some crazy people myself. Going to a 12 step meeting is not always the answer. Let's try and help each other or f*** this site.
What's going on, Mike? I don't understand your last post on this thread...it sounds like you are upset about something...what's up? Something rile you up?

Peace ~ MomNMore
Yeah, I guess I've been having a rough time. I'll deal with it or give up and the latter is not an option. Let me see what this shrink has to say to me and I'll get back to you,my friends. Mike.
