Big congratulations Ms Diff! Enjoy that little one now that she is here. I am happy to hear that you are nursing, so many young mothers today don't want to take the time and energy to give their babies one of the best things they could ever do to help them with a healthy start in life.
Post when you have time, rest as much as you can when the baby does...

Hi guys, sorry I'm rushing, I'd love to talk about her for hours but I'm just grabbing 5 mins in between feeds, changes, visitors etc. She was born at 5.56 am on Friday 23rd March and weighed 8lbs 2oz and is 21 inches long! We named her Rowanne Elise, Rowanne because her dad wanted to call her Rowan, but I wanted to feminise it slightly, and my middle name is Anne, so I thought it tied us together, and Elise, after my great aunt, who tragically went missing when I was a child and we never found out what happened to her. She suffered from schizophrenia, and you all know how I feel about not brushing mental illness under the carpet, and I thought what better tribute to her than to name my girl after her.
Anyway, my labour was a long one. They induced me on sunday 18th, but I would get all the labour pains, contractions etc, but after about 12 hours, they'd wear off, and they'd give me more of the induction drugs to try and get me going again. By Thursday, they said I'd had enough, and they were going to rest me for a couple of days, but my waters went on Thursday morning, and my true labour started. I had pethidene and gas and air, but by my second dose of pethidene on Thursday evening, Rowanne was showing signs of distress, so they quit with the opiates and gave me an epidural. Epidural was great, and pain went away, but I started throwing up. They gave me drugs to speed up the labour, but Rowanne was getting tired. Every time I had a contraction, I listened to her heart slowing down, and then held my breath until it picked up again, each time taking longer. Then we lost the heartbeat altogether, and it was complete panic for about 10 mins with all the drs rushing in and frantically trying to find a heart beat. Eventually they picked up a little heart beat, and by then I was in the end stages of labour. I was very good! I didn't swear, but I did scream a bit. I kept saying I couldn't do it, I couldn't push her out, and apparantly I yelled at the midwife to pull her out! But then I was told that they could see her head, and she had loads of dark hair, and I put in a monumental effort and her head came out. The midwife told me to stop pushing, but I just wanted her out, so I did another big push and she more or less flew out, but that was when I tore my insides to bits, and had to have loads of stitches. They wouldn't tell me how many, but my mum told me my fanny looked like a patchwork quilt!
Anyway, they placed her in my arms and she didn't yell, she just opened her eyes and looked right at me. I was so tired I could barely hold her. I was totally over come with emotion. I couldn't believe this little thing was my daughter. I felt really ill though, so afterwards they took me to the ward and I just lay there to rest for a few hours before I was able to feed her. I was totally out of it for 24 hrs, and barely remember anything from Friday, but soon she was feeding well, and I started to get my strength back. She was lethargic and shakey for a day or two, but then she picked up and is totally fine now.
She's a little gem. Everybody is so proud of her, and I've been inundated with well wishers. Her dads family have been fantastic, as have mine, and she's got so many presents that the house looks like it's celebrating a pink christmas! She's a very good baby, cries very little, sleeps well and feeds brilliantly. She's alert and so unbelievably lovable. I'm the most blessed person on the planet. I don't know what I've done to deserve such a wonderful child.
Anyway, this has taken me about 8 hours to write because I've been busy with her all day, so I'm going to go now.
Thank you all for your wonderful support and all your prayers and good wishes.
all our love

Oh how beautiful Diff, and I love the way you decided to name her. She sure is a special little girl for a very special mum.
All the very best girl, you've done brilliantly, through what must have been a traumatic time and a LONG labour. At least she's arrived safely and you're both ok. Admiration to you for taking time to post you must be knackered babe!!
Big hugs and kisses to you and Rowanne Elise x

Hi, Diff
Here's the directions for posting a picture. I can't wait to see our beautiful Rowanne (when you get the chance)!
I'm so happy to hear that your nursing her too. I nursed all three of mine and to me it makes the bond between mother and child even more special.
I will try to give the easiest instructions possible. It took me a total of 5 minutes from start to finish...
#1 - You need a website to upload the pictures from your computer to the Internet. Go to http://photobucket.com and register. Everything is free, free, free!
#2 - Once you register (takes 2 minutes). Then you hit the 'browse' button on the screen and find the pictures on your computer that you want to upload. One at a time you upload them. Each time you find the picture you want to upload to the Internet, just click SUBMIT
#3 - Lastly once all your pictures are uploaded to Photobucket. All thats left is to add then to the addictions website here. All you do here, is type your message as normal...HERE IS THE TRICK PART, AND ITS THE LAST THING YOU NEED TO DO..
**Go BACK to the photobucket website. Go to your album where it lists all your pictures. Under each picture you will see THREE things (URL, TAG, IMG) and beside each of them is a long address, link, bunch of words :) All you do is COPY ALL the WORDS in the [IMG] area. Just highlight all the words, copy them and then simply paste them to your message on this site. Thats it!!
SO everything is fairly straightforward, the only thing I found trick was the last step of seeing the pictures on this website...Like I said, just copy everyhing in the [IMG] area and simply paste it all here. When you are done, just click POST and the pictures will automatically load!
Love,
Susan
