God I hate to say this but detox lasted 1 night! I was under the impression that they were going to wean me off the morphine. Ha. Try clonodine and a couple valium, when 6 monthes ago I was at 300 mg. a day and through sheer willpower managed to get to 180 a day. Today Dr. a****** told me back to the meth or cold turkey. Needless to say, after too many ct's I decided back to the meth. There you go Jack, I guess my willpower wasn't quite as strong as it used to be. I'm going to start at the lowest possible, this will be my third time on it, and decrease from there. What a year. This time though, I'm going to go to the most miniscule amount before jumping off. Right now I'm so bummed I have to sign off and try and get agrip on what I have to do. Later, Mike.
Oh, Mike.
No doubt Jack will be by. I'm not much help and don't want to give you the ol' "Well, it's a start son", but it is. You're on your way.
Hoping you're feeling better. Hang tough, Mike. Easier said than done I know.
Fre*kin Doctor's. Don't pull your hair out. We can pull that Doctor's out. Wishing all good vibes going your way.

Thanx everyone, I'm off to the meth clinic in 10 minutes but I have a gut feeling I won't be able to get on right away. They called this morning and said I had to do blood and urine tests, which could take days. However, because I stopped in July they MIGHT be able to fast track me. God I hope that works. Tomorrow is welfare day so if all goes for a s***, I guess I can look after myself for a couple days. If I wasn't crazy before, I am slowly becoming that way now.
Hey Mike
Im kind of surprized that clonidine and valium were used to help ease the transition. Hell, they gave me that same combo- 20 yrs ago for my dope/methadone habit. You would think they would have a better way to go by now.
These days, most addiction doc,s will tell you to try and detox from your opiate of choice( which in my day,was usually heroin)- > then when you have suffered for a day or two with nothing - they use the sub drugs* - I understand from some people ,that although very tough to get there, when they finally put you on the suboxone or subutex, you have a great chance (with counseling) to start a life of sobriety. Easy for me to say, you know Ive stayed on methadone for a lifetime- - but it keeps me "clean" and a normal functioning member of society- I believe no-one should really should have to stay on methadone for soo long these days, but thats a different post
Keep in touch my friend-

Thinking of ya Mike. Hoping the bloods and urines went alright.
Try and hang in there, Mike.

Suboxone or subutex sounds great but unfortunately here in Canada you have to pay through the nose to get it. So for most addicts here, methadone or c/t is our only choice. I'm getting a little old, 49 on Monday, to go the c/t route. That, or I've done c/t so many times I'm just not into putting myself through hell for the 4-5 days that it would take. What a wus! They started me at 40, which really is not enough coming from the amount of morphine I was doing daily, but it's better than nothing. I'm just a little depressed at beating it this year only to have to go back on it. Another kick at the can I guess. Later, Mike.

I dont think there is anything wrong with taking medicine to keep you from using heroin or in your case morphine( heroin turns into morphine in your body anyway)
So if you must get on a comfortable dose of methadone for awhile- I would do it.
The need for more medically assisted treatment (MAT ) clinics and Buprenorphine MD's is there right now under our Federal mandated system. I dont know what the hell is going on in Canada
Should MAT treatment be made far more accessible and the restrictions on methadone patient compliance changed to be on a par with the US federal Regulations for Buprenorphine? Should Buprenorphione MD's have the availability of methadone under the same regulations as exists for Buprenorphine?
The pain world gets their warning and their medications... but not the same as the methadone maintenance patients who have an easily treatable disease. This a disease that could be treated in a doctors office by a prescription of methadone. Both Canada and the US ,in my opinion should re-visit laws and regulations that were put in place in the 1970,s - close to 40 years ago.Getting rid of the "clinic" solultion and the stigma that goes with it.
I know this is a drug free web-site- and is just my opinion.but there are many people who are getting older- medically assisted treatment should not be looked at as a bad thing, - You always will have a choice

Jack, I hope you're feeling a little calmer today as s*** happens to all of us. It's just how we deal with it. We do the best that we can or we know the alternatives. I welcome your words of wisdom and hope we can help ourselves and everyone else through our difficult times. Peace, Mike.
I didn't want to skip anyone who offered their help , so Brynda and Hope, thanks. You too Jack. Merry x-mas to everyone, if that means anything. You people do. Mike.
Ahhhh, you're so sweet, Mike.
