Discouraged

Just wanted to check in and let you know that the job market (or possibly my resume, wink) sucks! I finally heard back through an email that I didn't get the job I interviewed for 2 weeks ago. I still have 8 more weeks of unemployment but I am really becoming discouraged about the job situation. I've applied for over 300 jobs and have had only 2 interviews/responses from that many submissions. I try to remain hopeful and optimistic telling myself, "god, has a special job in store for me and it is just not the right time" but sometimes I can't help but get discourgaed, panicked, and uncertain about life. Anyway, just wanted to check in and vent.

Still sober and still no contact with me crazy ex so it ain't all that bad. And my sister is doing well, from what I've been told. She is actually handling the cancer differently than I would. She has isolated and hasn't returned anyone's calls except my moms. She says she just wants to rest and focus on recovering, which I understand, though it is a bit sad not to hear from her through the ordeal.

Anyway, hope this message finds everyone well.

Hugs.
Hi Zippy! Don't forget to put the job hunting in God's hands. He'll give you a job when the time is right. Sadly sometimes His time isn't the same as ours,
smooches
Hi Zipper hang in there and remember "good things come to those who wait" It will come together for you, just be patient and let God do his will. xxxxooo
God grant me the serenity
to accept the things
I cannot change
courage to change the things i can
and the wisdom to know the difference

One day at a time, pause when agitated and maybe hit a couple of meetings and who knows what may happen over coffee and a chat

light and love Zac
Be kind to yourself today Zipper....do what works for you...I know the serenity prayer, music, walks in nature work for me....life on life's terms is still often so very beautiful. I just have to find ways to remind myself of that.

Take care,
Martin

Maybe it's time to reconnect with people you haven't spoken to for a while. Net working with others who are in positions to offer help in the job market. Even a friend of a friend may be of help. A family members friend. Do not be afraid to humble yourself. Reach out to lost connections for help. Look for new possibilities that may have been over looked. Speaking at meetings and asking for help as well. It's so often who you know, yours or someone else's contacts.

Revise your resume. Have a friend or family member look over your resume. Perhaps make changes. Revise for each company you apply with. Showing you are aware of their history and core values in cover letter; while maintaining some simplicity. Sending out thank you cards; perhaps with a touch of humor. Apply in person; asking to speak directly with the person in charge. Apply in different industries that you may think your over or under qualified. Sometimes in life when we are so discouraged, God has a different path he wants to take us. Have you thought of applying at local treatment centers, hospitals, colleges. What about temp agencies. What industries are doing well in your area. Which markets have potential growth. That last one might sound a bit off. However, research this if you already haven't.

Continue to remain hopeful in God. P.U.S.H: Pray until something happens. I will keep praying even though I heard don't worry about my precious daughter. I will take care of her. He is even closer to those who hurt. Think of all he has already brought you through in your life. He won't fail you this time either; for he is perfect. He will walk through this with you! You are doing the next right thing Zippie; staying in recovery.

If you haven't already you could send your sister a card and let her know you understand of her desire to need privacy and rest. Let her know you love her and that you are a bit sad because you want to help, but that you won't take it personal. That you are there when ever she is ready and willing to talk, needs her dishes done, or a hug. That because she is your sister and friend you feel her pain. Reiterating your love and prayers for her and her family.

My Nana use to tell me there were many things she worried about in life and they all turned out OK in the end. She said she worried about things that never came to pass. There are certain things that happen in life we naturally will worry about, because we are humans with God's spirit inside us. He understands are limitations. He will help us when we are over whelmed. The trials are meant for us to turn to him and increase our trust and faith in him. She was right Lisa. I'm often reminded of her words of wisdom. Reminded of how her doubts turned into much faith over the years. She was a prayer warrior. I miss her.

Some days will be harder in life and some will be filled with joy. But, all will be OK. All will turn out well. We are being watched over. May I suggest you help someone else now. Another alcoholic, addict, neighbor, stranger. It doesn't have to be big. I suggest this because it was suggested to me. It helps when you help others. Knowing you from what I've read from your writings, I'm pretty sure you already do this. I know I need to be reminded to get out of myself the most, when I'm discouraged in life.

I hope you know that what I wrote is all meant to be suggestive. It seems the more I learn and know in life, I realize I don't know very much. I do know I care about you! You are such an intelligent, beautiful, sweetheart girl. I naturally want the best for Ms. Zippie, a ray of sunshine.

Love,

C~xxx
