Do They Care?

My question is this:Does an addicted actually care if they lose a loved one?My bf is on crack and im determined not to have any contact with him since throwing him out on saturday night, but will he care? And does it help?Any advice would be good
As an ex-addict, I can say that yes, the addicts care about losing loved ones, losing jobs, etc.

Look at it this way, an addict is like a psychiatric patient who knows he's sick but can only observe his world falling apart around him without being able to do anything about it. The difference between the mental patient and the addict is that the addict has the power to change his situation, be it slowly or quickly.

Yes, it does help to have him out of your life in his present state.

You have to think of yourself and what is good for you first. Your top priority is YOU, not him. Don't forget that you are just as affected as him by his addiction and, again, you have the power to set your situation straight by letting him go.
