Don't Drink Go To Meetings!

Hi... I've been sober for 378 days! !

I was sitting around the other day thinking about drinking... When I had an idea for an eBook based on my experiences as a drunk...

Yes I admit I'm a person with an addiction to alcohol and I know the secret to how other drunks like me can stop drinking.

For me the road to recovery is a day-to-day thing, and is simply a realization that I can't drink today... So I don't!

I went to my first AA meeting totally hung over from the night before, just released from jail a few hours before, busted 4 DUI, and I was a scary mess!

Lucky for me, my sister was in AA, and offered to help. She refused to take me to a meeting but made a phone call to a total stranger, that came to the house and took me to a meeting...

I thought that was wierd! But I was in no shape to protest, and knew it was time I did something about my particular problem. I was a drunk.

The stranger told me there was an unwritten rule that you should go to 90 meetings in 90 days when you first join AA... I thought - Yeah right! Well I'm not joining... I felt as if I wanted to crawl out of my skin at that first meeting!

I went again the next night... and the night after that, and the night after that.. I was on a roll and did try the 90/90 thing however, I only made it to 78 meetings in the first 90 days... I thought that was enough... I stopped going to AA.

I knew going to meetings wasn't enough to cure me... Nothing can. I'm a drunk and always will be. I still get cravings for my drink of choice every day...

"Anything" with alcohol in it was always my choice... I just know I can't drink today, so I don't!

I remember feeling guilty when I missed a meeting... I don't anymore. I found a substitute for the "lead meetings" I always liked the best... If you've spent any time around AA you know these are the meetings where you hear other people's drunk stories...

Half the battle of not drinking is knowing you're not alone. I was amazed at the number of drunks I met in AA. Some of their stories blew me away. But it taught me one thing... I'm not special and everything doesn't revolve around me...

If you're like me and don't go to meetings or feel guilty about missing a meeting if you're active in AA, one of these might help! It's my substitute for a meeting... (Works for me... no guarantees it will work for you!)

Click the link and listen to me announce the speaker and click the silhouette...

Give it a minute to load then minimize the Postcard and continue doing what you were doing...

Just turn up your speakers and listen!

Listening to one these instead of "picking up that drink", might help you just like it helps me!

If not... Don't Drink And Go To A Meeting!

I was thinking about creating more of these audio postcards. Do you think there would be an interest? Maybe an audio newsletter for drunks struggling with our friend Mr. Alcohol... :-)

Let me know!

Thanks

Don't Drink Go To Meetings!

Hey I clicked on the site and it popped up. Only thing is it said to click on the guy with the ? mark. I did that and it asked me if I wanted to save the file but nothing else came up. Did I do something wrong?
gzorpe,

is this a daily thing? is there a new speaker daily?

my son promised to do 90 meetings in 90 days when he left rehab early if we would allow him to live at home again.

he is on day 86, and has attended 82 meetings. he know that he needs to make up the 4 that he missed, but it is sometimes difficult with his schedule.

if there are several of these, i think it would count as a meeting, and it would be something that he would listen to.

he really doesn't like going to meetings, although he did like one that we went to out of town once, with a lot of really "old timers" the sounded a lot like the al m. guy that i am listening to now.

let me know if there are others... and what you think of listening to this to make up some meetings.

thanks,
patricia
