Dr Feelgood

Josh please listen to me. I am only a few years older than you. I have been actively using for 12 years. Everyday for 9 years. Listn getting married after 7 mths has little chance of working, an adict so new in recovery has even less chance to offer a life to someone, a addict new in recovery at 23 with no job depending on a few hunded bucks a month to get by from medicate has even less. I did the same thing and was married and Divorced last year. Its not fun.

I do understand. I will not sugar coat anything just as i dont expect anyone in recovery to give it to me easy. If its easy then everyone who is an addict would be perfect.

AA/NA could be your only hope. Here in greater Cincinnati we have great programs. People will help with transportation, are very supportive. If u listen more than talking you will get much more out of the program. U r selling yourself short if you go in and do not work the steps and work hard with a sponsor. If you arent working or going to school you have plenty of time.
Remember u have to work hard cause there is always someone thats wants it more.
Relapse doesnt have to happen but many do relapse, and some dont make it. AA/NA are free. Take advantage. I know u have gone for a week. Most peole go into AA/NA against what they feel. If you actually work the program your chances are better.
Screw the bartending and screw the pharmacy plans for now. Like Bullwinkles said making decisions in ones life isnt a good choice right now. Not saying it would never be but. you have alot to sort out. Plus you will still have to get a graduate degee, med school, internship, residency, and specialty training, AM i RIGHT? And you r fooling yourself if you think you are strong enough to work in a bar and just say no. thats just horribly hard to do when new in recovery. Dont fool yourself. If you are intelligent enough for pharmacology then you have a wide open range o fields in the mean time. APPLY yourself.

Waiting for your medicate to run out before you can work is a cop out. If its only a few hundred a month then its not a big deal to earn over a few hund for med plus a few thousand for a car and savings. Even if you have to go into town at 5:00 in the morning with your mother or 10:00 with your fiance. You had to Hustle to get drugs, use half that motivation to get a job and work on recovery.

If you get out and exercise you will feel better. Walking is also free. I know about your hand but i never heard about your legs.
Like everybody says take what you need from this and leave the rest, Dont get so emotional. Its just my opinion and my advice, but what do i know im a dug addict thats trying to live a normal life in recovery. Good luck Josh. I mean that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
