will I have w/d from suboxtone. I was only on it 10 days ( 2 mg ) once a day. then cut to 1 mg ( 1/2 pill ) the last 3-4 days. This was a 10 day treatment as my vicodin use was 8-10 a day. The Dr was hesistant to put me on it.
laura laura,
No you will not have WD's from suboxone. I took suboxone for 22 days and did not have a problem. I stopped at 1MG.
You stopped at 1/2 a mg. That amount is quite small. Suboxone stays in your blood stream for 72 hours. It has a 1/2 life. That means if you took 1 MG on Monday at 9AM, Tuesday at 9AM you will have 1/2 a MG in your bloodstream
Your mind is very powerful, if you think you are going to be sick you will be. Relax and put your mind on having a wonderfull weekend. Concentrate on your family, reading a book, learning to knit. Do something positive.
You sound spooked. Don't be. You're fine.

thanks catherine for your words of support, I am having a positive attitude from now on. I am so happy just to be clean for 6 days( from vicodin ) and cant wait til 30 days. I feel better already!! LIFE can be great without vic's..
Laura,
Good for you! When I stopped taking suboxone all I could think about was the nightmare of pills was finially over. I was jumpping up and down.
I took pills for 5 years and I have had to figure out why I did it and how to remain pill free. Suboxone isn't a cure for addiction. With the help of support groups AA/NA and other addicts I have remained pill free for over 9 months now. The most important thing I have learned is that if I take one pill I will never be able to stop. I am an addict.
You sound like you have support in place. You sound like you are on your way!!!!
Have a good weekend.

Thanks catherine!! I was useing for 4-5 years ( vics ).. I am exercising and it seems to help out. I know the sub isnt a cure, just a starting point. I cannot have 1 also, I am an addict also. If I take 1, i am basically on the road of misery again. have a good weekend!!
Laura,
I like the way you said that, "...I know the sub isnt a cure, just a starting point..." Thats how I feel to, everyone needs to look at suboxone the same way.
Keep comming back. This board is a great place for support and asking questions.

Laura,i dont want to make you feel bad/scared/etc...but if youve been using vicoden for years. That 10 days of sub just helped you through the worst of the WD;'s from the VICODIN....you wont have WD's from the sub after such a short period, but you will have some WD's from the vicodin youve been taking for quite a long period.Thats just the way it is,the sub helped for a little bit,but you will have a few months of other symptoms of WD's,mostly mental, some physical,i personally had alot, and i mean alot of body aches, very tired, bouts of extreme depression.Im not saying these things most definitley will happen to you but...they very well might,so dont get too upset in a day or two if you do feel somw of this.Keep up the exercise, and the great attitude, that will help alot!
I went to detox for 3 days on sub, came home and went through a good 2 months worth of pretty heavy WD's (not from the sub but from the years of abusing painpills)
I jjust want you to be aware.WD's from vicodin dont stop after ten days unfortunately, they do go on a little longer than that. The sub is probably still in your systom right now, which is a great help. But dont be surprised if you start feeling some symptoms, its only natural.Keep up the upbeat attitude, youre doing wonderful, and stick to the board if you have more questions,i think you might.Good luck~KIM

Laura...congrats on your 6 days! What else are you doing to stay clean? Sub is a great tool and alot of people have been successful with short term detox but they didn't do it with sub alone. Once the sub is gone, then what? All of the feelings, emotions, etc will still be there. The physical part may last for awhile as well. You dodged the worst of the withdrawals but withdrawals can last months, not just days. Most of that is emotional. You need help honey...have you considered NA or AA? Therapy? Either or both (preferable) can save you having to go through this again. Relapse is eminate for those that think they're cured after 6 days. Keep posting here too, it really does help. Cowgirl
Hey all,
I know you are trying to be realistic for Laura, but her pill use was not that heavy. 8 5mg vic's a day is just not that many. I agree she should be READY for some WD's, but I wouldn't expect a whole lot at that useage level. Of course everyone is different.......
But I can't see getting her all convinved she is going to feel like crap for months.
Laura, if you are OK now at 1/2 mg of sub, I think you will be fine.
Be prepered to feel great!!!
I must agree though, that STAYING clean is the tricky part. What is your plan for that? I ended up REALLY liking my NA group after thinking early on it was not for me.........
peaceout

I agree Johnny, the last thing i want is to get her frightened or upset.Im just trying to be realistic,we dont get over WD's from years of pps in a matter of a few days.Whether a 5 or 10 a day habit. That length of time has done some damage, and only time will heal that.
Meetings, therapy,Laura, whatever you can find to help is what you need. This board is a great source of help, but some outside help is immeasurable, let us know how its going~KIM

Laura,
Having a positive attitude will really help. If you think you're going to have a terrible time, you probably will. That's not to say you shouldn't treat yourself gently at this time, but try not to future catastrophize. You will feel better with each week that passes.
Good luck.

While I agree that her usuage wasn't as bad as some, me for instance, everyone still responds differently to w/d's. The emotional part can last for months or even years no matter who much you're taking. Unless you get to the bottom of it and get help. We need to find out why we used in the first place and it doesn't matter if that was 2 years ago, or 20.
