So I posted the other day that I have felt almost numb the past few weeks. I went to the doctor today and he put me on premerin, and requip. I haven't taken the medicine yet but I feel better just knowing there is hope. I've never been on hormones before and was wondering if anyone knows how long it takes to start working. Does it help right away or does it take some time to get in your system. I know I should have asked my doctor but I always end up getting nervous going to the dr. and forget to ask him stuff. Anyway, thanks to those who responded to my earlier post.

Shelly,
Requip for restless legs worked great for me right away. Only needed it for a short time during my recovery.
Premarin took several weeks 6wks or so.. Was on it for several years, had hysterectomy, wasnt on it for a while then went back on it and developed an allergy (severe) to it. Have you read all the pros and cons about this hormone? There are some benefits that maybe and antidepressent could offer you without the side effects of the hormone. And as an added bit of info, I believe that hormone is made from pregant horse urine. I could be wrong but I remember seeing that when I was still taking it and was a LITTLE upset.
I recently went back to my ob/gyn to ask about any new hormone replacement therapy and we discussed what was available (nothing new) and the benefits and side effects. My view, it is not worth the risk of heart disease etc when there are other options available for the symptoms that ail you. JMHO
