Feeling Like Hell

I've been off pills for seven days and I fel horrible. When did it get better for you?
I survived a test this weekend and told my friends and family to respect my sobriety........I'm taking jaccuzzis.....drinking tea,,,,,taking vitamins......playing my guitar alaot.....trying to keep busy...
When I got out of detox(awhile ago) I was so elated at first....just to off the pills. It took a very long time to regain my strength. I was tired and moody///some days better than others. I went on an AD and it helped. Remember your brainc chemistry has been tampered with and it needs time to heal. Hang in there. Drink a lot of fluids....if you can get outside and do some brisk walking...you'll feel better. DON'T lay around and dwell on it. It will get better....you mustt be patient. After all, it took awhile for you to get used to taking all that poison into your system....now your body is trying to regroup and regulate itself w/o foreign substances...you have done a WONDERFUL thing! Hang in there doll.......Love, Sharonn
7 Days is GREAT!! Keep doing what your doing. Go to a meeting, call a friend whatever you do, don't use. It's not worth it. You've come to far. You will start to get back to your oldself in no time. Your energy level will gradually increase. If your able to join a gym then do that.

Hang in there. It does get better..

mrjer:

So sorry you are feeling so badly. It is different for everyone, but for me, it took a while. It is just that everyday you don't use, you ARE closer to feeling normal. I was really blown away at how bad I felt...and it served to show me just how "out of control" I really was.

Now I don't mean running amuck and acting wild...what I mean is I HAD to have pills to feel normal. I hate that. I just freaked out at what a toll this crap had taken on me.

Do you exercise? Can you go for a walk. I found it difficult to get into my physical body, but the more I did, the better I felt.

It sounds like you are doing all the right things...it just takes time. As I said the other day...we played...and that debt has to be paid. It it were too easy, none of us would learn a thing, would we?

Look for the insight into the aching. Feel it all you can. For me, kicking was so hard, it has served me well in staying clean. I never want to go through that again.

What you are doing is awesome! It really is....You should be so proud of yourself and pat yourself on the back, BIG TIME! And as bad as you feel, just know, some members here have done really hard detoxes. If you get scared, read the heroin board. What those addicts go through to get clean is nothing short of hell, and they are doing it! I have tremendous respect. Do whatever you have to do, JUST DON'T USE.

I will be around today...happy to chat as much as you need.

And, a while back you asked if I was a teacher...yes?, Art Adjunct faculty finishing my MFA...*smile* I see you are a teacher too! We are special!!!!

MRJER! God Job!! I was pissed at day 7, I felt I earned feeling better by then! Day 10 was a real turn around, in that my back didn't hurt the WHOLE day. I had to take a hot bath day 9, thought that should have been gone too! I am day 12 now, and still sore. Like Sarah said though, it took a long time for the poison to "layer" its way through the body. Left traces everywhere, like coming in from the beach, haha the sand likes to irritate us, lingering in the toes and on the rug, (I am an idiot, lol) BUT I FEEL GOOD TODAY! I only started eating breakfast a few days ago at regular time. Slept a full 8 hours first time last night. You are so close to some real relief. Way to go!
Hint: buck up on the fiber...digestive system goes nuts when you trade the pills back for food, at about day 10
Hang in there Jer and yes, we all will start sounding like broken records, but it does get better, just don't leave 5 minutes before the miracle. Took me about 2 weeks until I could start to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Just hold on....
