Tonight I'm feeling so very sad. I used to post here several years ago as my boyfriend struggled with drugs and alcohol. However, he's not why I am back right now. Back when I was trying to figure out what to do about my situation I was befriended by someone on another topic who was a recovering addict. Even though we never met in person this gentleman provided me with such comfort and insight. I will never forget his impact on my life. Earlier tonight I opened my Facebook to learn he passed away at the age of 45, leaving behind a young son. He did not die from his addiction, he was still in recovery. He succumbed to a different disease.
To everyone who shares their wisdom and experience with others here, thank you. Your kindness, strength and caring have a greater impact then you know.
Just thankful for and wanting to honor a wonderful person I met on this site.
Hi Misty, sorry for your loss. I think we all are familiar with that feeling of heavy sadness in our hearts. Addiction brings sadness to corners of our lives that we would otherwise not be a part of. Good and Bad - as others have said - our loved ones and our lives have been changed by addiction - we can not say why some are chosen and some are not - some find comfort in the fact that all of us who have been touched can help others by sharing our stories, touching another person's life - bringing hope and sanity to others. As this man has done for you, and most likely many others.
Be well.
Be well.
So sorry for the loss of your beautiful friend.
