i got a rx from my dr for valtrex to stop the cold sores....i take it as soon as i feel one coming on and it stops it.
works better than anything!

I agree 100%, I am the cold sore queen. I keep a filled prescription at all times, when I first start feeling that little tingle, I start taking them. I have never seen such huge pills in my life. I also keep a prescription for Zovirax cream on hand, that seems to help also. Good to hear from you and hope you are well.

i'm doing all the stuff a textbook case does..lol....no more of that terminal uniqueness for me. i must say it is a shock to read about yourself in a book and find it's like looking in a mirror.

Hey ladies,,,,,,,,,,Valtrex and Zovirax are herpes virus medications and fever blisters are considered a herpes virus. Not the same as herpes simplex, but the medication works for both types of herpes..... Just a suggestion, don't go around and share that information, about what kind of medication you have, or people will start looking at you in a strange way......if you get what I mean....lol............... I don't want ya'll to scare the men folk away.
I agree with that...cold sores are herpes 1 and you CAN transmit it from the mouth to the gential area via oral sex. Never have oral sex while you have a cold sore or fever blister espeacially if your partner doesn't have the virus. While herpes 1 is not 2, they are the same virus. Herpes 1 breakouts are not as frequent as herpes 2 which is the gential only virus.,,,it's still the herpes virus. Huge amount of the population has this virus and don't even know. I work in the dental field, and we see lots of cases of herpes 1. I just took a continuing education class on herpes a month ago. Got all the updated info..thought some of you might be interested in this if you didn't already know.
Anyway...I have almost 7 weeks clean...I'm feeling sooo good.

From what I understand chicken pox, and shingles also come from the herpes virus. I had really bad chicken pox as a child, lip herpes since I was a teenager, so I guess along with menopause I can look forward to shingles as I get older. Woo Hoo, life is just a uphill battle sometimes. : D
Shingles and chicken pox are herpes zoster....same but different. You can't get herpes 1 or 2 from zoster. So they say. Man, shingles can really be bad. Life's a b**** sometimes.

shingles is SO painful..not anything a recovering addict needs!! Also, with any herpes infection,,WASH YOUR HANDS..Ocular herpes can cause blindness...
Now if she could just find something for the husband-sore....
