Yeah, I can relate to this song. It's like me going thru this revolving door over and over and over again. I was trying to fix myself with alcohol. I just kept crying looking up towards the sky the light. I surrendered to my HP whom I call God. Because alcohol wasn't really the problem the problem was me. And it still is. I just keep trying do the next right thing and let God do the rest.
When I went to out patient rehab last summer my drug and alcohol counselor would tell us don't tell yourself that you can't drink. Crap that didn't sit well with me. First off I don't like being told what I can and can't do. Perhaps another character defect, lol. He said you can choose not to drink giving yourself some enpowerment. Of course I liked that part.
I had being telling myself that I can't drink because well I know that I'm an alcoholic. I had to retrain my thinking. I have the power and choice over that FIRST DRINK ONLY! after that all bets are off. I was asked to speak last night at AA & I mentioned this lots of nods in the room.
Try reading the first step thread it's a liittle ways down on the board. Elim mentions this to. Plus theres just so much acceptance and recovery on this thread. I'm glad your here Pirate!
