Hey there, my names Trina and this is my first time on this page, well really on any kind of blog but I'm terrified and can not continue using. I've been on heroin for four years and I'm at wits end. I'm literally killing myself. Blown all my veins pretty much and killed any chance of friendship or family. So now at rock bottom I've started methadone. I've come up to 55 mgs and was wondering if anyone could share their experience, when will I be most comfortable to stop shooting. I want to stop right now but I'm scared of being sick. I'm a single mother and withdrawals with a two year old doesn't seem fitting. Any suggestions are more then welcomed !

to clarify, you're on 55mg methadone as well as still shooting h? I believe methadone is virtually pointless if you're still using while on it.. I would talk to your doctor about it. withdrawals may not seem fitting with a 2 year old, but drug use with one is a lot less fitting. I wish you the best! stay strong.
Hi poster, you said your wanting to know when's about will you be comfortable enough to stop shooting ? First let me explain, I'm a five year h addict. I don't hit myself tho. I smoke. So I'm on Methadone. At 20mg. Started a year ago at 50. Then three months later went up to sixty. And people say it's pointless to use h because the Methadone will stop you from feeling pleasure from the dope but that never happened to me. But I'm 5'2. 110 lbs. And sixty mg's was enough for me. You know hun, you got to stay focus and busy. Boredom can be our worst enemy so don't let yourself have free time. You gotta constantly stay busy. All that getting sick on Methadone is all in our heads when we're at a mg high enough to go 24-48 hours without using. I'm no saint anymore. I'm still an active user. Good for you for knowing you need to change. That's the first step. Do you have help with your child? You are going to have to focus everything on you and unfortunately someone else will need to help out with your baby. Methadone was not a fix for my son. But it kept him from using (I think.?) but now he is in a treatment program. Many treatment programs will not take someone who is using Methadone, our's requested he be below 40 milligrams. Find a good program for you, a treatment center that can focus on you. And ask your family for help with your child. In the long run it will be worth the effort. Good luck.

Thank you everyone for your ideas. I actually moved up to 70 mgs and I have 12 days without h .I know that's not all the way clean but I feel so much better about everything and once I'm in a stronger mindset I'll taper off of the meth. I've tried treatment and the full withdraws were to much for me. I know that sounds like an excuse but hey I have to do what works for me right? I've never gone this long without using and I actually feel like I'm going to go all the way this time and that is an amazing feeling. So one step at a time. But I'm excited for the future and I know I can make my little boy proof now. Hopefully one day I can write on here that I have 12 days without anything. Wish me luck !

Trina, you absolutely can't do any dope while you are on the m/done. I say that cuz you are literally just making things much worse for yourself. I see now that you say u are off of it for 12 days- that is HUGE hon, huge! I'm incredibly proud of you for that as you should be too :-) I know how long 12 days is- and thats like a lifetime with this stuff.
