as most of you know, i have been taking vic. for back pain and an accident that i had..i have run out of vics. but i do have darvocet.do i contiune to taper down w/ the darv. or just go cold turkey? i was down to 4 vics. a day..
would love some advice.....

That's a tough call to make as each one of us is different. My expereince - I've tapered twice and each time it was at the 3-4 pill a day mark that I quit and got on with my recovery. I flushed the rest of my pills. I was already feeling the wd's...not too bad physically, but it was more an emotional decision for me.
I've never taken darvocet, so can't really speak to what you would do with those in your taper program if you continue. Whatever choice you make stay strong and stay focused on recovery!

i don't have the mental part of the addicton,(wanting pills) but i do have the addiction of needing them for the pain.. i"m scared to them them out ,what happens when i'm hurting so much that i can't move.. i'm gonna explore other options to deal w/ the pain..but for now i'll keep them around.. i"m really confused..

Hello DJ Just wanted to let you know that you can do it.Iwas taking 14 methadone a day 4 10 yrs. I am now 14 days clean. If I can do it so can you. Take it 1 day at a time.Like you I was on them because of operations. Its not easy but dont forget to turn to GOD also. Lots of LUCK & GOD BLESS YOU!!!!!!!

I read your post and was a little confused, so your still in pain? Are you out of the Vic's or just want to come off of them? Whenever I had to take Darvocet they never really worked they just made me real dizzy! I was addicted to Vic's. If you need them for pain they may work.

DJ Ican tell you first hand that there are other drugs out there that can manage your pain.I am going in the hospital Feb. 28 for a total hip replacement. I am off my methadone and now taking a drug called neurontin, it has helped with my W/D as well as my pain!!!!!!!!!!!!

taper off em, but the wd aint that bad & if u do it right, the darvocet will get rid of vik wds, and u can quickly get off darvocet (if ur not on many, or long) with little or no wd's. but never underestimate them, they are 2/3 clinical structure of methadone & at one time i remember reading (maybe even in a pdr)it was one of the main drugs people died from od on. strange hu
BROWNDOG,THANKS FOR THE INFO.!!! i have taken 5 darv.over the last day and a half.it barley helps the constant pain that i have..i do have a question. what is methadone? i here everyone talk about it..but i'm not sure what it is.. i guess i have an idea. please pardone my stuipidty..

Hello, and good morning, ok i personally would continue to taper w/the Darvocet, its a lower pain med and its better than nothing! just my opion.... take care .........
IMO, Darvon or Darvacet is very weak compared to hydrocodone. I would not use it to WD from vic. It is very easy to OD on so be careful!
