Is there any fast way to get off Oxycontin without experiencing bad withdrawls? I take 60 mg twice a day. I tried cold turkey and that lasted about 2 hours. I just couldn't take the withdrawl symptoms. I tried stepping down to 50 mg and still felt the heebie jeebies really bad. Does insurance cover any fast treatment plans that anyone knows about?? Thanks for any replies.

I don't know much about it but I do know it can be dangerous to just cold turkey off that high of a dose. You wil need rehab to do it quick and if not that route than I would suggest looking into a medication called Subone or Sunutex.. I heard that is the newest thing out now to help you feel normal again without the withdrawls and seems to be uccessful for short term use. Also clonodine patches to help your blood pressure would be great too! Good luck to you and maybe others can help you better on the oxy question. Rae
I don't know too much about the withdrawals, but I do want to pass this bit of very important information regarding oxycontin. If you try to withdrawal cold turkey and relapse after being off your regular dose for a period of time, DO NOT take your normal dose (especially if you're banging it), because you will more than likely overdose. You might want to verify that, but I was told that and wouldn't feel right not passing it on to you as a warning. I would think that any quick withdrawal from oxycontin would be dangerous without medical supervision.

Opiate withdrawal is uncomfortable, but not life threating. I went C/T after 120mg a day oxy, 40 mg a day percocet, and 4 mg/day xanax. It sucked but I did it. 24 days now. Still tired and foggy but WD's went away after 10 days. I have no interest in taking anything but Ibuprofen for pain. Ya just gotta go for it and suck it up. Good luck! It's not the end of the world if you are committed to doing it!! Try and take time off from work also.

there are places called rapid detox centers. i don't know that much about them just what i read. they put you in the hospital for five days, give you anesthesia and while you sleep they give you drugs that strip your brain receptors of all opiod chemicals. i have read testimonials of people that say it really works. don't know the sight but if you type in rapid detox it should bring it up in your keyword search sorry i could not be of any better service, i just want to say also to hang in there you can do it

Just wanted to say that my x tried to detox off of oxy when his dr cut him off cold turkey. He was taking 240 mil a day if not more. he almost died, he actually lost 2 weeks of his life that he does not remember a thing. I had to literally put him in the car and take him to a doctor. Please get help with the detox, I am not trying to scare you, but it can be dangerous. please get help. I have heard of the rapid detox centers also, not sure where they are located but you could search the net to find out

I want to thank everyone for their input. I plan on getting medical help to detox. After the little bit of withdrawl I already went through, I am too chicken to cold turkey. I am going to try the search for rapid detox ans see what I find. I am also going to talk to my doc about the "sub" drugs. Thanks again
RAPID DETOX CENTERS ARE DANGEROUS AND HAVE LOW, PERMANENT SUCCESS RATES!
Always- The only advice I can give is there is no "fast" way out of this. It's a long haul and be prepared for whats comming. If there was a fast way out, none of us would be here talking...it is going to take time...there is no "miracle" drug because it's just subbing one for another...we all would love to go to sleep for 5 days and wake up and be drug free and everything is normal..don't think it happens..
And I'm not preaching here..just saying it like it is....
