I am sitting in my local internet cafe which is only a block from my house..i come here everyday and am addicted to their frappucinos as well as struggling to get off of a long term pain pill addition...i have tapered down to taking 75% less per day and will go cold turkey once there is a minimal amount in my system. I have a serious pain problem with a benign bone tumor, so that makes things a bit complicated, im hoping to find a non narcotic for the pain...I dont have it everyday thank god.
I am angry that I started using these bloody pills for more than pain...dont know why i was so stupid. i should just have been grateful they worked for the physical pain alone.
My attitude has changed so much about them though..I am just sick sick sick of taking them, thinking about taking them, worried about w/ding from them..wht a fine mess ive got myslef in. I am determined that no matter what I will get off them and never take them again.Even if it kills me.
Anyway, thankyou for posting, can you tell me a bit of your story?

Ali, can you tell me what you are taking for pain. My doc was Oxycontin and hydrocodone. I will help you with a taper if you would like but I will need a bit of info from you. You can get through this, I promise you can.

I have 8 milligrm pills of dilaudid. i was up to 25 a day..worst amount 30.
Have taken them 4 and a half years ( so embarrassing to admit) and take 4 8mils at a time...for the last 4 days am down to 8 a day without withdrawal or pain.
I had gone to the dr when my I had a lull in my pain and started being really honest with myself about how much i was taking them, cus i realkized here i am with no painbut i cant function or get anything done without them..my Dr. thought i was jumping the gun a bit but said okay we can start to taper you off..he gave me some long acting ones but after 2 days on them with terrible withdrawals and anxiety and the pain returning, i changed to the short acting ones..that was 4 days ago and as i said have managed to go with 8 a day for the last 4 days 9 which is a huge drop and in itself a small breakthrough)
I feel so much shame and i know that doesnthelp...I went to the PA website first and did got to 2 meetings but I just could not relate in my ownhead and am glad 12 steps work for people i just dont see it could work for me...( please no one be affended by that....)

Ali, you may want to purchase some Gravol and cut down by one pill per week.
If you are down to 9 a day now, stay on this dose for the remainder of the week. Next week, take 8 per day for the entire week. Then continue to taper each week less one pill. When you get down to one, you may need to stay on it for a couple of weeks before jumping off. Dilaudid has a short half life and it should not be anymore uncomfortable than coming off of Hydrocodone. Drink plenty of water, eat banana's, soups and crackers and take plenty of hot baths.
Let me know how you are doing.

Dilaudid is hydromorphone hydrochloride. It is used for moderate to severe pain and for coughing. It can be injected or taken orally and it binds with the opiate receptors in the CNS, altering both perception of and emotional responses to pain. Also, supresses the cough reflex by direct action on the cough center in the medulla.
CNS: sedation, somnolence,clouded sensory, dizziness and euphoria.
When taken PO it begins to take effect in 30 minutes and the duration is 4 hours. Hope this helped.
Needless to say, it is a highly addictive pain medication.

Kim, very similar to Norco's but a little stronger. I sent you an email when you first requested it. I don't know what is up with the mail server. I have sent out many other mails today and everyone seems to have been receiving them. Think about Lady Bri???
