Morning All
Up really early on a day I should be sleeping late.
Why-?? Well Sandy (& I ?) made plans to drive up to her sister,s home in Saratoga,NY for Thanksgiving. Its about a 3 hour drive, (I hope the 10 year old camry can pull off this trip) so we,ll leave around 6 am.
At 1st I balked at going on this trip, man 6 hours round trip- -sleeping over 1 nite- missing Thanksgiving ay MY family,s homes- - then I thought> Sandy,s been through a lot ,with all her medical issues going on. She wants to see her sisters and whats left of her family up state. We spend every holiday down here with my family & its time to be show my thanks to her and sacrifice 2 days so she can have a happy holiday. Hopefully there will be many more,but no-one knows for sure. So I would hate to think that my selfishness was the reason she never saw her family again. Its not out of guilt or that Im a martyr here- -I love her sister and I love Upstate NY. -Its just the right thing to do.
Thanksgiving - I am thankful for her,trying as she can be at times,but arent we
all. I am thankful for my family who has been more than undertanding and compassionate through my wacky life. Im thankful for my son,who at 20 years old,often seems lazy & unmotivated- but is a good respectful kid,& we,ll be spending the holiday with my mom(his grandma) and my brothers and sister.
So Happy Thanksgiving to all you guys- - Be thankful for the little things & people that we take for granted too many times thru the year.

Dear Jack,
Just read your post. You're probably on your way. Just want you to know that I will say some prayers, as I putter around here getting things ready for our Thanksgiving celebration, for you two to have a safe and enjoyable visit with her family. It is so sweet of you to do this for her.

There ya go, Jack. I'd have felt the same way, BUT we are compassionate people, and this will mean the world to her plus get you guys away for a little bit.
That was good thinking in regards to you coming to the realization she may have needed to see her sisiter. Good medicine.

P.S. Trying? Aren't we all trying at some time or other? LOL Man Jack you know we're addicst. Well, recovering one's, but think back at how trying we were. LOL I don't even think that's the word for what we were. LOL

Just got home guys- - thanks for all the nice comments.
It rained the entire 3 hours up the friggin NYSTATE THRUWAY. So it really turned turned a 3 hour ride, to a 4 hour ride. When the FOG rolled into the Hudson Valley- along with a torrential down pour, I thought that was it!! We couldnt see 10 yards ahead of us.
Anway- we made it -- The Turkey & trimmings were all great. Another thing to be grateful for. That we can actually complain "I ate too much" - On other parts of the planet, it was just another day of having nothing to eat.
After dinner we wrapped up pounds of food-deserts- drink .. etc..& took it all over to one of the Albany ,NY missions- a small token,but what the hell. It made us feel good and it seemed like the right thing to do

I'm glad you had a good thanksgiving. It was just another weekend here!.
Can't remember when our Thanksgiving is, that's not a good thing, I will have to find out.
