God Boxes

For those of you on the Program I was wondering if any of you have a "God Box" ~ I got one for my two year birthday but have yet to use it six months later...if you have one please share your experience with it...it's rarely talked about in meetings. Thanks!
I'm starting a "gratitude" box. Same thing?
Hmmm, I'm not sure...I think you put your prayer requests into your God box an ask God to take over the situation your having trouble with and then you just need to let go and let God. However, I might be wrong about this. A Gratitude box is a great idea, I use write a Gratitude list daily and have gotten away from that...glad that you mentioned it. Hope you are doing well today.
When I was newly sober my sponsor had me make a God box.

She said it was a box that you made your own and when you needed to turn something over to God,something that is troubling you a fear, a worry,etc.. you write it down on a slip of paper and put it in there. Then later on you go back and write out the outcome...so down the road you can see that one way or another, things do work themselves out.

She wouldn't let me buy some cute pre-made box...I had to get artsy-crafty with it. So I took a shoe box and made tissue paper flowers all over it (very 2nd grade)...it was cool though, I put some thought into it. I am going to make my sponsee do the same.

God boxes are very old-timey AA, you will see them in clubhouses sometimes.

Thanks C ~ I think I might make my own too! Thanks for the definition. Maybe it will help turn me things over more quickly.
What I like about it best ...is that I put something in ...and at the time it seems like such a huge deal...then 6 months later I go back and smile . Whatever the problem was.. has worked it self out and seems almost trivial.

It solidifys the idea that things will work out...sometimes good, sometimes not so good...but you move past problems...just in time for something else to pop up.

I haven't used mine lately...I've been journaling a lot (always working on that 10th step!) and I've been praying to God on paper...turning things over to him on paper helps me see patterns and results and outcome. I find it keeps me on track spritually. I was a history major in college so reading and writing are my passion...very comfortable expressing myself through pen and paper.

My sponsor suggested making your own by putting pictures, photos, drawings, stickers, scrapbook stuff , collages....anything to make it your own..making it with your own two hands makes it so personal...we adults don't do enough of that these days...I know I sure don't.

so good chatting with you...God Bless

Hi C ~ I journal too, mostly everynight and that is Step 10 for me too! I swear I have dyslexia, my typing as of late, I read my most recent post to you...I've just stopped proof reading...I have to do a lot of that I work and I don't want to come home and do it - lol!
