has anyone ever tried the herb california poppy. i was browsing through gnc looking at the natural sleep remedies, and stumbled upon some. it also has passion flower (which has the most beautiful bloom in all of god's creation) and melatonin. i asked the clerk and she said that they haven't sold any of it since she has been working there (3yrs). the california poppy also said it was taken from the aerial part of the plant i don't know if this is important or not. i was actually in search for kava kava which they no longer provide because of liver problems associated with kava. anyone else know any good herbal sleep remedies? (valerian along with warm milk i know is wonderful)

This is my thing the herbs and all. That one I don't know about. That was cool the chick was honest though and said she never sold any. PLUS that was laying round for three years ya don't want that anyway.
Someone else on here takes melatonin so maybe they can help there. Personally I took and it made me wackadoodle. Now being an addict ya know how we do. Says take one melatonin I took four. That also can hurt your liver. Sounds weird to "normals" that we worry about our livers and three year old herbs after what we did and went through. Still and this is just me I didn't like that melatonin.
Yeah see abou the kava kava. Them herbs are not FDA approved. Sort of like the dope we bought not knowing what the heck was in it. Now Passion Flower I had as tea years ago. Tasted awful.
Bettle, since our sleep patterns are so bad I swear we grasp for anything. I know I did. That insomnia was the worse. I can say if you got the loot to get some of those Omega 3's. They really helped me big time with mood. L-Lysine also helped me overall, and is good for immune system. B-Complex as well.
It's definately the amino acids you want. L-Tryptothan is needed for sleep. We get that from milk or turkey. Well for us we'd have to eat two turkey birds down to the carcass for a wink or two. They have ones where all the amino acids are together. Fennel seed you can make a tea out of. Tastes like licorace, and it's relaxing and good for the intestines. You know how long that poison stays in us.
So I think if you get a multivit where it has amino acids in it that will really help.
I'm really careful cause I took L-Phenalyalanine. It's an amino acid, and it's for mood like depression and helps with sleep. I am lucky they didn't commit me and toss away the key. Again I took more than it called for but I was like speeding, and acting bizarre. So be really careful. Hope all this info helped just a little bit. Maybe someone else can help a bit more.

The last stretch of sobriety time that i had i was fixed on b-50 (for energy and alrtness in the morning), and also ginko biloba and st johns wort. I just liked the way those herb made me feel, a little less social anxiety. Also loaded up on chewable vitamin c , at very very large doses, it's water soluble so it is all flushed out of your system within 24 hrs. And then at night i would take valerian root.
With all those vitamins and herbs i was taking it really helped me stay focused in a healthy output, and helped take up my free time looking for new things, but as always it was shortlasted.
