Yeah, its freezing here in Maine too, we got a small snow storm yesterday. I am sitting here thinking my feet are really cold and I should go put on some slippers but I still haven't lol!

It's down to 22 here, that's pretty cold for North Louisiana. I'm loving it, sitting here drinking coffee and watching the fire.

i know janet, i havent even started shopping yet either, i dont have any money. after suffering a nervous breakdown, nov 9th and upon taking the advice given to me by my counselor, i set boundaries with my dysfunctional family this Christmas and will be with my 2 sons only this year, my husband is an active alcoholic/porn addict so i will have to pretend hes not here on Christmas morning, its hard to live with him and try and be clean.last year during the opening of our presents, the phone rang and out the door he went, never came home until late that evening... his presents sat under the tree for a week, so i unwrapped them and returned them to the store. so with that all being in place this year i only have 2 people to buy for and thats my sons,oh, cant forget the animals gifts either, my dogs, kitty and rabbit all having a Christmas stocking! k-9 /jewels

I need to get moving, but it's so cozy in my LR. I think I am going to run the heater in my bathroom until it gets warm enough to shower...what a southern sissy I am becoming! I love cold weather, but my house is chilly, all the tile floors keep it cool.
I am going out armed with a credit card, I have a budget that I need to stick to, so I really need to get a list written. Maybe tomorrow I will drag my tree out and start to decorate. I get so frustrated buying for the grandkids, they have just about everything they want/need...and trying to stay within a certain price for each one is difficult. There are 2 boys in the 8-10 range and 2 in the 5-6 range, I usually end up getting them the same toy so there's no fighting. Then there's a 15 y/o girl and of course Kenny who is almost 2. Dylan wants an Ipod, and I don't have a clue about them, I'm afraid that he will lose it, they are soooo tiny...hate to waste the money and he's not the most dependable 11 year old. I keep waffling back and forth as to whether I am going to buy one.

I keep having memory flashes of him losing his glasses at the end of last year. I'm also concerned about the hearing loss cause ya know they have to have that stuff banging...

If I can put my two cents in lol - I say buy him the ipod. Two reasons, Im sure its something he really wants and that in itself makes a great gift. Second, it will help him learn to be more responsible. Tell him you got it for him because you trust him to know to value his things now and keep them safe. The two year old really has no idea so just get something his mom would appreciate more. The girl gets clothes lol. The younger boys may be tough - but definitely NOT clothes lol.

Someone mentioned putting up the Christmas Tree, well I got that done lastnight............Found a gorgeous real tree this morning, can smell it throughout the house, love that smell. Was interesting lastnight to put the tree up with a 4 and 6 year old, they just loved it! And of course after it was all done we had to turn out all the lights (even upstairs lol) to look at the tree, and go outside and look at it through the windows. They really enjoyed themselves.
I was in a great Christmas mood until some things have got stirred up with my family. I am having my family's Christmas Eve here, and was so excited, then I now I hardly feel like doing it. I hope that changes soon, I have alot to get ready for it.

Janet- I agree you can never go wrong with a gift certificate, I know my mother-in-law gets me one every year, and is always a nice gift to get.............

I do love the reality that most people's Christmas is not a Norman Rockwell scenario. Too many expect it to be that way or else it is a failure. I actually dread the thought each year because there is ALWAYS some stress and hassles with family members. Im in a better frame of mind about it this year for some reason and I think its because I have FINALLY realized the "not pleasing everyone" aspect and so I will do what is in my heart and only express that the others do what is in their heart. Id love to get rid of gift giving altogether except for our kids. The whole meaning is totally lost with all the expense and stress. We all say this every year and yet we all fall into it. My list is a lot smaller this year but my spirit feels a lot stronger. Church is always a big part of Christmas Eve for me.
