Evening all you methadone heads,
Legal Aid called me this afternoon,Sunday, to tell me our guardianship papers for my granddaughter are finished !!! We are to go pick them up at their office tomorrow between 9am-11am. Once I get there they will tell me how to go to file them at the courthouse and we're on our way.
It normally takes between 4-5 weeks i think, but because she is on medication and we are close to running out,they suggested we do an emergency "temporary"guardianship.
Also tomorrow afternoon at 3pm I have an appt with Social services regarding our getting Medi-cal for her as well. They can deny it,but once we have guardianship we will get it regardless.
We are also trying to get her into an on line school based here in So.Cal. She has already been out of school for a week now while we are collecting vaccine records and school transcripts. She is loving it, while I am worrying we'll get in trouble for her being truant.
Since she has been away from her mother for a full year and us for 17 mos she is thoroughly enjoying her time not having to do any schoolwork. She never even got a "summer vacation" so it is well deserved.
She likes to play video games and watch YouTUBE videos of parrots,cockatoos and macaws doing unbelievable mimicing. Check it out. Most of them are hilarious!!! Their imitation capabilities are unbelievable, especially the african grey parrots. They are the best talkers of all the parrots and will amaze and entertain you. Just enter "talking parrots" on the internet and you will find all sorts of stuff. Then you will just have to look around. Try it!
There is one in particular of an umbrella cockatoo "talking back/arguing" with the mother or mother-in-law.. LMAO.you will too. There is also "Einstein" a grey from the Knox Zoo here in the U.S. Unbelievable.

My brother had a wicked bar-b-que/party this afternoon- - All my relatives from my dad,s side were there- -which was great, they are soo much more my style then moms clan- -
Even had a few beers- which I dont do very often - like 3 times a yr or so- -good time today.
sO many times when I was at these things yrs ago, I was nodding off in the corner with my cousin Jerry- (who is clean now from all drugs after 25 yrs- and lives in Baltimore)-
gotta go back to sleep- when you dont really drink, and you have 3 beers, it really does wipe you out-
Good thing my friends wife played designated driver.

Then our next court date is on Dec 5th at 8:30,same courtroom for final approval. I keep telling Amber that when its all over she'll "BE MINE... ALL MINE !!!!!! LOL. In the meantime we have to serve papers to everyone, mom,dad,her brother... and then drop off the proof to Legal Aid.
Then I had a 3pm appt with social services for her medi-cal and food stamps. That took almost 2 hours, but we're pretty much done with that too.
So.......Now I am pooped and have no idea what we'll have for dinner...

Disability denied my husband any money for last month? because we were $3000.00 over what 2 of us can "have". That was set aside to pay my property taxes,$3585.00. Now there is exactly $172.81 in there,so he have to re-apply again. If they had only waited like 10 days we might of had a little more income for this month.
It infuriates me sometimes! You pay into this stupid thing your whole god damn life and when you need it it takes a miracle to get it!!! He did get some unemployment and disability like 4 yrs ago. But that of course has run out. But he is STILL disabled and cant work. We finally hired an attorney that only deals with this stuff. But even with an attorney ,your claims can and do get denied. This is the second time. Now it can be up to another 6 mos before we can expect anything again. Drives me insane. At least it looks like we may get some food stamps.

hey Granni...Congrats !!!...Halloween would be way cool !!!...wow...sounds like you have a whole hell of a lot on your plate...i so hope you get some funds coming back in somehow...my other half was unemployed for almost 3 years after they closed the kaserne she worked at for almost 20 years...it was so rough and so tight...lots of stress....we were blessed she got a job out here...ok...even if it is boonie land...at least we are both working for the moment...sending you good vibes lady...so glad you have your gchild back...im sure she cant wait to go get her bro now...lol...good luck Granni...you have a huge heart !!...hugs

Boy I sound like a real snivel pot.
I dont usually dump all my personal crap out there like that, I was just so frazzled last night.. I even feel really bad to even ask for food stamps. I have so much compared to all the folks that have lost their homes,jobs,cars........ I HAVE a home,a car, and we are not starving. I am still dumbfounded that we even qualified for food stamps. I think they allow $2008.00 for a familly of 3 a month and we are at $1710.00.
I applied for Amber not realizing I can't apply for just one member it has to be the whole family. Its different feeding 2 senior adults. We need different foods for a teenager. So, we have a couple more things to do and my intake gal should have everything she needs in the next 2 days so we'll see where it goes.
The next thing is to get her enrolled in school.

I have filed all the necessary papers in court and mailed all the registered mail to My exDIL,my son etc. Tomorrow I have to take all I have done back to Legal Aid again and file more papers at the court??? There is soooooo much to do for this guardianship I dont know how I would ever be able to do it without Legal Aids help.
And I am trying to enroll her in this on line charter school,the enrollment requirements are brutal.I a dead tired,again, so I'll yak at ya later.Our 1st court date is only 4 days away.......

Well, today was our court date. we got there 1 hour before,as we were told,then waited almost another 2 hours and before we even got into the courtroom,a bailiff came out and told us,(and a few other people) that the judge did not grant our emergency guardianship today but to come back for our 2nd. date in Dec. So now we just wait. We knew that it was a possibility,so it was no surprise.
Now,to get her in school I will need to send a Non-Custodial Caregiver Affidavit ,which Calif will accept in leiu of the judges order. So we're good. She is happy,so thats all that matters, we'll get it next time....

do i remember that you are in California? my grandsons mom, who lost custody of all 3, just got partial custody back of her girls!! 2 dui's, a bench warrant the day she went in to the hearing, pregnant for another, under investigation for welfare fraud, 3 domestic beatings and she gets partial custody wow! wth is going on in California? the system scares me and i thank God at least we are in another state waaay far away. hoping things work out for you, at least you have her

The bailiff said the judge "hadnt decided" our case yet.I just reread what I had originally written and it did sound like he said NO.Sorry.( Other people in the hall were told flat out,your case was denied.) I think what it is ,is, they didnt grant what they call an "emergency temporary guardianship" because it really isnt what they see as an "emergency". She doesnt need immediate surgery.....etc. I was just concerned about her meds running out before the Dec.court date,so I went with what Legal Aid suggested. (I also totally missed the 1 refill remaining til 8/2012 on her precription package!!! So I went to my pharmacy and he is trying to get it transferred from the Nevada pharmacy to ours in Calif .That will put us past the Dec date) Once you have both parents permission, they said,it should be a no brainer. I also think maybe they needed more time to look into my 3 time arrest record,2 for possession(of $10.00 & $17.00 worth of dope....)and one for under the influence,all are taken care of and I even completed 2 drug diversions and probation with flying colors. And the last stuff was completed in 1988 or 1989!! Hello...that is 22 years ago.Nothing since then...
Maybe they need to call and talk to the non-relatives I put down as personal references. One is the Clinic Administrator at the methadone clinic I go to!! One is a childhood friend and business owner, and the other is my next-door-neighbor. She knows all about what happened with Amber and she knows us.....I could sit here and second guess myself all day. Legal Aid said they don't grant emergency cases much, unless it is a REAL emergency.
Her medi-cal went into effect today so thats good.We have a choice of Molina or I.E.H.P.. She needs braces too,poor thing,I wore braces for 3 1/2 years starting at age 10. She has a mouthful of teeth,including her "fangs" from my kids dad. She likes them but may lose them.
So, we're good,shes happy and as MoM said,we have her!!! Every day brings something new and before we know it it will be Dec 5th. Crap,......... Christmas is almost here??????

Morning all,
It is Wed. morning 9:00ish and the wind is BLOWING LIKE A b****!!!!!!!!! We have whats called the "Fontana winds" not to be confused with the "Santa Ana Winds". The Santa Anas are generally warm to hot winds,but still can be pretty fierce at times...trees blown over...its hard driving anywhere,power lines down....
The Fontana winds,like todays, come out of nowhere.. My granddaughter and I went to the grocery store last night and when we came out like 20 minutes later,the wind had come up & was crankin'. A bit cooler usually than the S.A's but just as nasty. Blows all the leaves off the trees and blows over anything and everything in a flower pot. my 5 little dogs hate it and hide under the covers of our bed...spoiled brats...It will stop after a few hours or it can blow for days. This is the second one we've had in the past 6-8 mos. Thought I'd lost the car cover I'd put on my old 95 buick roadmaster station wagon that sits in my driveway but I found it....all twisted and tweeked , hanging by one bungie cord.
Sound like the people back east are getting some weird and wild winter weather. Poor Jack and all the others that have friends and family there. The kids are probably lovin' it...no school?? and snow all over??

It is rainin' today...after the 2 days of wind that blew the crap out of everything around here. Now tomorrow its supposed to be nice, then on Sunday,another storm.... We are right at the foot of the mountains but we never get snow,except for the 3 times ,in 11 1/2 years it"snowed" in Fontana... But blink and its gone...Barely camera worthy.....We arent that far from Big Bear or Arrowhead if ya want snow.
Now poor Jack..I havent heard from him in a few days now. Am wondering,since hes in the Harlem area, are they still in snow up to their arses??? I hear the "east coast" but bein' from Calif that doesnt help me much.
Well have a good one nd we will talk again soon.
