THE STAPLES SINGERS........you know them........does anyone in your family like them.........Mavis Staple especially.
Just wondering.......I get these things........well I can't say psychic.......just something.........I'm a weirdo.
Saw them on a show the other night......so just wondering.
YES.........They were fav's of both my parents and family as well.....going up I listen to them( remember Let's Do It Again, I'll Take You Their).......loved Mavis's raspy voice.....she even did work with Prince in the late 80's/early90's.
Not my thread, but those Staples are timeless...love them.

O.K. well GYAC I was supposed to tell you that show was on.......not the show actually.......THE STAPLES SINGERS........I'm not sure why......and I can't explain it........I don't know myself.
There was an entire show on about STAX.......Otis, and Sam&Dave, and just a fabulous show.......I prefered Stax to Motown myself.......then THE STAPLES SINGERS came on.........and there ya go.......I kind of waited to tell ya that or wasn't going to tell ya.........but it's absolutely a good thing.
Especially about Mavis.

B.....their is a Stax box set that just came out maybe a year ago....if you are not already down check it out.......it's laoded for a true fan of the Stax vibe. Me....I am a Motown head myself.......I thought I was already a fan but when I say the docu "Standing In The Shadows Of Motown"(tells the stories of the team known as The Funk Brother's that did all the band work mixed with them playing with Chaka Khan, Joan Osborne, Ben Harper, Bootsy Collins, Gerald Levert.....to name a few.........this is probably my all time favorite docu of all times). LOVE LOVE LOVE to talk tunes so please feel free to mention all music...or as Davey and I tagged it INTEL!!!
