I am hoping some of you could help. I am doing a research assihnement on the bennifits/ lack there of, of harm reduction as opposed to rehab/treatment. What are your thoughts? Does needle exchange, free booze, Rx meds- do they work, or should governments be spending money on detox beds instead? What treatment did you find successful and what was a waste of time?
Thanks so much and God bless!!
Harm reduction means more funerals for addicts. Such logic should not
be a substitute for detox beds. I suppose it depends on how you view
harm reduction, as a social or individual goal. Real compassion would
offer a choice of needles or detox beds, don't get confused by policy talk
or the truly clueless. Check the B-S clients are told in "harm reduction"
programs and ask where their friends are. I know, I attended such a program
and survived.
